Bulky Item Removal Service

Dear Sir/Madam,

Bristol City Council is keen to assist its residents and visitors in keeping the City clean and attractive for all to enjoy.

It has come to my attention that you have bulky waste stored in the front of your property.

If you are in the process of removing the waste from your property, then please ignore this letter and there is no need to contact the Council.

However, if not then I would like to draw your attention to the services that are available to assist you.

Bristol City Council provides a bulky item removal service. Three household items can be removed for £15 and all additional items will be charged at the same rate:

- Up to three items £15.

- Four to six items £30.

- Seven to nine items £45.

5 bin liners can be collected in place of one item so we could take up to 15 bin liners for £15.

If you are in receipt of a means tested benefit (Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit, Income Support or Pension Credit) you are entitled to a concession, one free collection of up to three items, once every six months.

It is a Kerbside collection service so the items will have to be collected from the front of the property. Please leave them in a visible and accessible location.

You can now book bulky waste collections online:

If you would like to organise a bulky waste collection over the phone you can do so by calling 0117 9222 100.

If you are paying for the service and want to organise it over the phone or online you will need to be able to pay via a credit or debit card.

Postal bookings can be made by sending a cheque or postal order to Customer Services, PO Box 595, Brunel House, St Georges Road, Bristol, BS1 5UY. Please include your name and address, telephone number, the exact location where the items will be left for collection and specify the three items. Once we have received your cheque we will call you back to arrange a suitable collection date.

If you would prefer to pay by cash you can do so at one of the Customer Service Points throughout the city. If you go to the below link it has details of the addresses of these and the opening hours of their cash desk:

Alternatively, you can take bulky items (including fridges, freezers and dishwashers etc) to one of the two Household Recycling Centres in Bristol. The centres are located at Days Road, St Phillips, and Kingsweston Lane, Avonmouth. They are open seven days a week, from 8.00am - 4.15pm during winter, and 8.00am - 6.45pm during summer. Please see the link below for more information :-
