Message from Councilmember Amy Quintana

Dear Taos Community:

Fall is here, and a major message sent on behalf of the AncianosSeniorCenter, housed by the Town of Taos on Albright, is to check on seniors who live in your area to make sure their homes are prepped for winter. If they use firewood for heat Ancianos has a program, in conjunction with Rocky Mtn. Youth Corps, to provide free firewood –just call 758-4091.

Other notes about fall -- daylight hours are dwindling, so please remind children to be even more careful walking to and from school -- and on Halloween. Drivers cannot see children as well as they think, and they must be doubly cautious around traffic this time of year.

The Town of Taos Fall "Green" Clean Up is Mon-Fri., the week of Oct.19-23. That week property owners within the Town of Taos can call for free, curbside pick upof green waste (garden clippings, leaves, branches, etc.). We're here to help you keep your property neat, and those weeds down! Items must be bagged (leaves) or tied in bundles(branches cut to no more than 5 ft. long) for pick up by the Streets Div., Public Works Dept. To request this free service within Town boundariescall 751-2047 with your name, phone number, and physical address.

My last reminder -- be a supporter and user of Taos' walking and biking trails - it keeps us healthier, reduces pollution and is a great way to get around.
