Experience (Community/Internships)
Description / Positions Held / Time- Art Extravaganzea- Introduced art workshops to students living and attending school in City Heights and Oak Park for Preuss’ Service Learning project. Workshops included theater, painting, and photography.
- My First Passport to Brazil – All expenses paid scholarship to volunteer abroad in Salvador, Brazil by Karuna International. Taught young kids English in an after-school program called Arte Conciente. Also helped build the last walls of the program’s buildings. In July 2010, I also organized an event that fundraised money for a program similar to Art Concentiente here in my community called ARTS (A Reason to Survive). Proceeds also went to Arte Conciente and next year’s winners’ funds.

- Access Y.E.S. Transition Network- Paid internship where I help immigrants from Oaxaca, Mexico learn to speak and write in Spanish and English. I also help them learn to use the computers and navigate in the internet. I have helped many others start their own businesses by helping them make flyers and business cards.

- Sanford-Burnham Internship- During this week-long internship, I shadowed different research scientists. We learned about different experiments and projects to help find cure of different diseases, such as the genome of the Danio rerio.
- Bayside Community Center- Initially a paid-internship, this center involves tutoring immigrants’ children in math, reading, homework assignments, and develop their English speaking skills.Students also have Misteco classes, their dialect from Oaxaca, Mexico to remind them and re-teach them of their cultures’ language and roots.

Description/Accomplishments / Positions Held / Time- Associated Student Body (ASB)- Coordinated Preuss’s most successful middle-school and high school dances, such as the High School Retro Dance. Also organized school events such as Homecoming, which welcomed the Alumni back to a Preuss basketball game at the UCSD main gym.

- Interact Club-Rotary has eradicated Polio in all countries, except 5 including India. As a high-school club we will be holding different fundraisers to fundraise money to contribute to Rotary to achieve the goal of eradicating Polio in all countries around d the globe.

- Barrio Logan College Institute- Program that helps students from lower-class communities to strive to attend college. I receive support through tutoring and college applications. Source used for extra academic help. Also provided San Francisco college trip in 2010.
- Preuss Spirit Squad- Through my enthusiasm and school spirit I am able to pump the sprit of the academically concentrated students at The Preuss School UCSD!
- National Honors Society- Club for academic and community leaders. Focus on community service and service to the school.
- Cross Country Varsity Team –Participated in this sport for two years. In 2007, our team fortunately went to CIF Finals, a huge accomplishment in Athletics at Preuss.
