Fall 2017
Hello Leaders and Volunteers!
The 2017 4-H year is quickly wrapping up and it is time once again to plan for the Annual Banquet and Awards evening being held on Friday January 26, 2018 at the Paris Fairgrounds.
In an attempt to reduce cost this year the award nomination forms are being distributed by email. If you have any problems with the forms please contact Brent Cochrane.
Each year the Banquet Committee encourages leaders and volunteers to nominate members for the following awards:
- Brant County 4-H Top Novice Member – first year 4-H member (under the age of 16 as of January 1, 2017) (sponsored by Brant County Junior Farmers)
- Brant County 4-H Intermediate Spirit & Friendship Award – Age 13-15 (born 2001, 2002,2003) (founded by Marilyn Sewell and family)
- Brant County 4-H Leadership Award – Senior member 16+ years old (born 2000 and prior) (sponsored by Ontario Institute of Agrologists, Hamilton Branch)
- OPA Outstanding Agriculture 4-H Member Award (sponsored by the Ontario Plowmen’s Association)
- Lifeskills ‘MOTTO’ Awards – two age categories (Novice/Junior) and (Intermediate/Senior) -Available to Lifeskills clubs members, information enclosed.
Please review the attached details of each Award’s eligibility criteria.
The nomination process is very simple. If you have had a member in your Club(s) that has demonstrated the skills and abilities of being a worthy recipient of an award(s) for which they qualify, and the member’s home association is Brant County 4-H, please fill out the respective nomination form, with the required documentation and forward to Brent Cochrane by the deadline date. The nominations will be collected and sent to the Brant County 4-H Awards Selection Committee for evaluation. All nominations are held in strict confidence, and are evaluated by representatives of the sponsoring organizations as well as neutral parties.
If you feel that your nomination is better supported by a letter outlining the pertinent qualities than the enclosed forms, please use the nomination form to indicate the name of the nominee and attach a letter to the form in support of your nomination.
