Standards / SS1H1 The student will read about and describe the life of historical figures in American history.
a. Identify the contributions made by these figures: Benjamin Franklin (inventor/author/ statesman), Thomas Jefferson (Declaration of Independence), Meriwether Lewis and William Clark with Sacagawea (exploration), Harriet Tubman (Underground Railroad), Theodore Roosevelt (National Parks and the environment), George Washington Carver (science).

Assessment Instrument
(Ex. Test, Poster, Presentation, Picture, etc.) / The students will create their own teddy bears and present their fact sheet.
Evaluation (Grading) Instrument
(Ex. Point System, Rubric, Checklist, etc.) / The students will be graded on the accuracy of their fact sheet. The fact sheet must include 2 facts about how or what Roosevelt did to impact national parks and the environment. It will be graded on a 5-3-1 scale. If the student lists two facts correctly, they will receive the full 5 points. If they only list one correct fact they will receive 3 points. If they do not have any correct facts, but they do participate and complete the teddy bear coloring they will only receive 1 point.
