Are You Eligible for Rebate?

Yes, if you live outside the franchise boundaries of a natural gas distributor, you may be eligible for a 25% rebate (less the GST) on heating oil and/or propane purchases.

If natural gas service can be extended to your location in the future, your eligibility for heating oil / propane rebates will be terminated.

This program will now expire March 31, 2019.

Applications will be accepted until March 31, 2020 for fuel purchases up to and including March 31, 2019.

Invoices must be dated one year or lessfrom the date the Remote Area Heating Allowance Program receives your application.

Is There a Limit to the Rebate Payments?

You will receive a rebate for up to
18,185 litres (4,000 gallons) of propane OR12,275 litres (2,700 gallons) of heating oil OR
a proportionate combination of both for each calendar year (January to December).
These quantities are about twice the current annual domestic consumption and are intended to allow the full benefit of the program to flow to all eligible users of these fuels. Rebates are subject to the Rebates Authorization Regulation.

How Do You Apply for Rebate?

You can obtain your rebate under the Remote Area Heating Allowance Program by completing and signingthe application form on the reverse of this brochure and submitting it with your originalora clearly printed copy of invoices/delivery tickets for heating oil and/or propane to Rural Utilities Branch.

Each invoice/delivery ticket must include the following information:

  • Name and address of purchaser
  • Date of fuel delivery
  • Amount of fuel purchased
  • Unit cost of the fuel per gallon or litre
  • Total paid(without GST)
