So Youwanna be a rap superstar….here is “yo” chance

FLOCABULARY MIDDLE EASTRAP PROJECT

You and your group will be given one of the following rap songs from the website FLOCABULARY

“Major World Religions”- Major World Religions

“What Lies Beneath”- Modern Middle East

“Who makes the rules? “ – Forms of Government

“The Empires of Islam” – Islamic Empires

You and your group will be responsible for performing the song in front of your class. You MUST remember the song by heart.

THINK ABOUT IT:

When you go to a concert, does the artist read the song from a sheet? NO

If you are in chorus, do you read the lyrics from the sheet? NO

When I teach do I read from a script? NO

You MUST practice the lyrics and remember them. Break up the songs. Have one person do the beginning; one can perform the middle, one do the end. All can do the chorus or have the fourth member (if you have one), do the chorus part.

Make this song a FUN, energetic production. Keep in mind, that another group in the class will be performing the SAME song. THIS IS A RAP BATTLE!!

All songs are on FLOCABULARY.COM You may access it from home by using the following username ______and password ______

Also if rap is not your favorite type of music, feel free to change the beat or even slow it down and read it like a poem. As long, as EVRYONE is participating and taking part. If you are “scared” to perform in front of the class, film it at home and burn to a DVD /memory stick/ up load to youtube.

And for those you have stage fright, you can make a power point for the background, direct the video, or make cue cards/pictures/posters to show the class. Just make sure you are still taking part.

Even though you are working in groups, it is an individual grade. Don’t think that you will be graded the same as your group members. If you do everything, you will get a higher grade than someone who does nothing.

Most important aspect of this project is to

  1. HAVE FUN
  2. WORK AS A TEAM
  3. LEARN/REMEMBER THE LYRICS TO YOR PART
  4. HAVE IT READY ON DAY OF PERFORMANCE; NO EXCUSES

How will you be graded…..
