M.A.C.C. MEETING

APRIL 6, 2011

REGULAR MEETING

The meeting was opened by Vice President John Santore.

The Pledge of Allegiance was said by all.

Commander O’Connor gave a brief report on crime. Morninside had no Part I crimes. The dirt bike problem has been addressed.

TREASURER Nan Pischke

As of April 6, 2011 the balance in the Treasury is $5753.45. The Treasurer’s report will be filed for Audit. M.A.C.C. has opened up an account of $1000 for the Morningside Mile Race. It will be reported to the Membership, how the funds are used. M.A.C.C. gave $150 for the application permit for the race.

COMMITTEE’S

BEAUTIFICATION AND GREENING Amy Ervin

Ms. Ervin stated that the Annual Clean Up will be on Saturday, April 16, 2011. Will meet at the Morningside V.F.W. at 10 a.m. Will do Natoli and Heth’s Fields.

Ms. Ervin that stated it will cost $250 towards paint for the inside and outside of the concession stand, bleachers and supplies for Heth’s and the back splash, bleachers and concession stand at Natoli. Ms. Ervin asked where this money will come from and it was told to her that it will be taken out of her Budget for the year.

HOUSING AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT Matt Diersen

The Home and Improvement Workshop that was held at Sunnyside School was a success. Mr. Diersen wanted to commend Ms. Emily Keebler for spearheading the workshop. There was positive feedback about the workshop.

The property at Baker Street and Morningside Avenue has to be cleaned up within 45 days. Enforcement walk thru will be on April 16, 2011.

MEMBERSHIP Jasmin Ariff-Sayad

Ms. Ariff-Sayad had nothing to report.

COMMUNICATIONS Christin Cato

The Newsletter’s deadline will be April 22, 2011 with a mailing date of May 5, 2011.

The Head of the Vikings Football asked if their registration can be put in the Newsletter. Ms. Christine Cato stated that it will be put on the Web site.

PUBLIC SAFETY Stacey DiRenzo

Ms. DiRenzo asked about the camera’s at Heth’s and Natoli.

ACTIVITIES

MORNINGSIDE MILE RACE Emily Keebler/John Schneider

The Race Committee has moved the route from Morningside Avenue to Chislett Street, because of the cost of the police. The Morningside V.F.W. has donated $1000 to the event. Will do some Fundraising. The first Fund Raiser will be a spaghetti dinner to be held a day before the Pittsburgh Marathon which will be May 14, 2011 at St. Raphael’s Multi Purpose Room.

YARD SALE Mike Hellman

The Yard Sale will be held on Saturday June 4, 2011. The forms for the Yard Sale are due by May 20, 2011.

EASTER EVENT Jen McCarthy

The Easter Event will be held on Sunday, April 17, 2011. Will have Easter egg Hunt, games and treats. The Budget for the event is $100. Eight children have registered so far.

STRATEGIC PLANNING SPACE ANALYSIS Matt Diersen/Ben Kelly

Mr. Diersen stated that the DCED Grant has been accepted and clear for 2009. Mr. Diersen wanted to thank Ms. Nan Pischke for all the hard work that she did.

GREENWAY DEDICATION AND HIKE Emily Keebler

The Greenway Dedication is in the planning stages. There will be a ribbon cutting and a walk around. Ms. Keebler stated that they are open to suggestions.

NEW BUSINESS

Some suggestions for the neighborhood: top of Greenwood Street steps are deteriorating, the Hampton Street walkways need painting and the hand rail needs to be fixed.

Vice President Santore stated that Dr. Decroo Mother has passed away, and also State Representative Dom Costa’s Brother has also passed away.

A MOTION WAS MADE TO ALLOCATE $20 TOWARDS A DONATION IN THEIR NAMES TO THE BURN UNIT AT WEST PENN HOSPITAL AND THE AMERICAN CANCER SOCIETY. (Mike Hellman/Chris Sandvig)
