1、Brief Introduction
Model BWY—804 Transformer Thermoregulator is a new generation product derived from Model BWY—802/803 one in compliance with JB/T 6302-92 Standard of Pressare-type Thermoregulator For Transformer issued by The National Machinery Ministry.It is suitable for taking measurement and control of oil temperature in a medium-sized or Large-sized transformer.
The BWY—804 features following new points:
1.1 Wide scope of application
To meet the need of intelligentized control in an unattended transformer house, the BWS—804 can output following controlling signals
1.1.1 Pt100 platinum resistance signal;
1.1.2 4-20mA direct current signal;
1.1.3 RS232/RS485 communication interface。
1.2 Four sets of switch, which can be set within a whole span, are employed to respectively control over the transformer cooling system, overheating alarming and tripping, etc.
1.3 To satisfy different enquirements of customers, two selections of mounting dimension of the BWY—804 are offered when installation.
1.3.1 Mounting Dimension I:
It is the same mounting dimension as that of BWY—802/803, which is specified by JB/T 6302-92 standard.It is our recommendation that you adopt this one
1.3.2 Mounting DimensionⅡ:
It is the same mounting dimension as that of some imported meters.It is convenient for some customers who originally installed imported meters to replace with ours now.

Below description is the signification of the type of BWY—804 defined
3 Main technical parameters
3.1 of BWY—804 Thermoregulator
3.1.1 normal operating conditions:-30~+55℃
3.1.2 measuring range:0-100℃ 0-120℃ 0-150℃
3.1.3 measurement accuracy:grade 1.5
3.1.4 control function:
3.1.4.1 setting range:adjustable within the whole span
3.1.4.2 setting accuracy:±3℃
3.1.4.3 switch difference:6±2℃
3.1.4.4 rated power:AC220V/3A
3.1.4.5 standard set point:
0-100℃:K1=55℃ K2=65℃ K3=80℃ K4=90℃
0-120℃:K1=55℃ K2=65℃ K3=80℃ K4=100℃
0-150℃:K1=55℃ K2=65℃ K3=80℃ K4=130℃
3.1.5 Output:3.1.5.1 Pt100 platinum resistance signal;
3.1.5.2 DC4-20mA signal;
3.1.6 shielding grade:IP55

a Mounting dimension I (the same mounting dimension as that of BWY—802/803)refer to Figure 1;
b Mounting dimensionⅡ:
Unscrew 6 socket screws on the installing board on the back of the BWY—804, then remove the board and here is the installing dimension II as showed in figure 2。
3.2 Of XMT—288F/288FC digital display thermometer
3.2.1 normal operating conditions:0-50℃
3.2.2 measuring range:
0-100℃ 0-120℃ 0-150℃
3.2.3 measurement accuraey:grade 1.5
3.2.4 resolution ratio:0.1℃
3.2.5 input signal:Pt100 platinum resistance signal, three-wire system(the signal comes from BWY—804)
3.2.6 power supply:AC220V±10%
3.2.7 control function:
a setting range: adjustable within the whok span
b setting accuracy:±1℃
c switch difference:2℃
d contact capacity:AC 220V/3A
e standard set point:55℃,80℃
3.2.8 Output (confined to XMT-288FC):
a constant voltage signal:0-5V、1-5V;

4、Control point setting
4.1 Of BWY-804 Thermoregulator:
The temperature control points of each BWS—804 have been already set in accordance with JB/T6302-92 standard before its delivery.(refer to:3. main techuical parameters) If users need to change the value of set points,please follow below procedures:
4.1.1 take off the meter cover with a supplied 10mm solid wrench;
4.1.2 Unscrew switch fixed bolts with a supplied 6mm solid wrench (refer to figure 4 );
4.1.3 stir the red setting needles to set value planned;
4.1.4 screw back switch fixed bolts;
4.1.5 close the cover。
4.2 Of XMT-288F/288FC digital display thermometer:
4.2.1 shift the toggle switch to “set” position(Figure 3 );
4.2.2 Adjust the regulating potentiometer until the temperature value planned;
4.2.3 shift the toggle switch back to “measurement”position。
5、Wiring
You have to take off the cover to wire the BWS—804 (Figure 4 ).first take the catch bolt and sealing washer out of the lead terminal; next thread them in turn on a connection cable and fit them altogether back into the lead terminal; then connect wires according to the connection diagram; finally tighten the catch bolt and close the cover. We recommand you to use a connection cable with a section area of 1.5mm2 of each single wire.

6、Installation
6.1 Following is the installation procedures with mounting dimension I (which is the same mounting dimension as that of BWY—802/803) refer to figure 1:
6.1.1 screw 3 hexagonal bolts (M6×10) and 3 matched washers accessorized with BWS—804 into a mounting board of transformer (just screw them in 2-3 circles);
6.1.2 put the “installing holes” on the back of the unit over the bolts, then pull the unit downward till into place;
6.1.3 screw fasten the bolts with the 10mm solid wrench provided。
6.2 Following is the installation procedures with mounting dimension II (refer to figure 2 ):
6.2.1 screw off 6 socket screws (M4×10) and remove the installing board from the back of BWY—804;
6.2.2 fit the meter on a mounting board of transformer with 4 hexagonal bolts provided;
6.2.3 screw 4 bolts fasten with the 10mm solid wrench provided;
6.3 Installation of bulb:
Below procedures describe how install the temperature-sensing bulb of BWY—804:
6.3.1 wrap the screw thread (M27×2) on the bulb with appropriate seal material in a clockwise direction (suppose the bulb is hold upward straight);
6.3.2 Insert the bulb into the transformer’s sleeve with oil inside it;
6.3.3 screw the mounting screw on the bulb into the sleeve until fasten the sealing washer;
7、Points of attention:
7.1 The test on BWY—804 must be carried out in compliance with the certificate regulations for pressure-type thermometer (JJG310-2002). Especially the bulb should be iuserted entirely into a constant temperature oven instead of normal temperature atmosphere with BWY—804 fitted vertically. Otherwise you can’t make a strict judgement by the accuracy of grade 1.5
7.2 In the process of wiring and installing the thermoregulator, please handle it with care and operate strictly to the instructions。
7.3 Make use of the solid wrench to open and close the meter cover. In particular, while closing the cover, screw 4 hexagonal bolts on the cover with an uniform and balanced force to avoid affecting its tightness。
7.4 While installing the unit, the surplus capillary tube should be wound into a circle of diameter of over 150mm and properly fixed at every interval of 300mm (for example tied by some thin copper wire etc)。
7.5 The test on the Digital Display Thermometer can be conducted by connecting it either with a standard resistance box as input signal source according to division value of Pt100 or with a BWY—804 with its bulb inserted into a constant temperature oven。
7.6 During field installation attention must be paid to insert the entire bulb into the transformer’s sleeve with oil inside it. In other words, the depth of inserted bulb should be at least no less than 150mm.。
7.7 Water is forbidden to let in the transformer’s sleeve with oil inside. When the ambient temperature drops below 0℃and the transformer happens not to work. The water in the sleeve probably freezes in an expansion to squeeze the bulb, which results in wrong indication of the thermoregulator. So the attention must be paid to seal the bulb when mounting it to prevent rainwater in
8、Notices for ordering
The following items about thermoregulator should be determined when ordering:
8.1 The model of thermoregulator;
8.2 Measuring range;
8.3 The type of output signal (ie. Pt100 resistance signal or DC 4-20 mA signal)
8.4 If a demand is made on BWY—804 for output of Pt100 signal, an attached XMT-288F or XMT-288FC Digital Display Thermometer is necessary. Moreover, an attached XMT-288FC must be specified which signal to output amoug below three ones:
8.4.1 constant voltage signal:0-5V 1-5V;
8.4.2 direct current signal:4-20mA;
8.4.3 communication interface:RS232 or RS485。
Note:The thermoregulator must keep the same measuring range with that its of its attached digital display thermometer. For example, given a thermoregulator ordered covers a measuring range of 0-100℃, its matched one must cover a same that of 0-100℃。
