Fall Judo Program: Starting on September 4th, we will return to our full judo program. This year there is one change to the Monday and Friday night classes, the children’s class will end at 8:30 pm. The full program is listed on the second page. Please be sure to review the program, so you know which classes to attend. If you have any questions regarding which class to attend, please feel free to ask me at any time.
Beginner Judo Program: This Fall we will continue our beginner program with the new beginner minimum age of 7 years old. New beginners can start on Wednesdays and Saturdays within the first ten days of the following months: January, April, July and October. The program is still 3 months long.
Nisei Veteran’s Award: On Sunday, July 21st at the JCCC’s Arigato Day, the winner for the Nisei Veteran’s Award was announced. This year Martin Pellikka was the winner in the martial arts category. Martin joins previous winners from our club, Shujon Mazumder, Michael Gan, Roman Spada and Miki Fukushima.
Kamp Kodomo Judo Demonstration: Once again during July our club assisted with the JCCC’s Kamp Kodomo with three judo demonstrations. There were many participants with a number of campers attending all three weeks of Kamp Kodomo. Special thanks to those who helped out; Amanda and Ethan, Josh and Jesse, Vicente and Rayleign.
National Judo Championships: This year’s National Judo Championships were in Richmond B.C from July 4-7. Our club sent four members as part of the Ontario Team, Yassin and Youssef Youssef, and Shedy and Mohab El Nahas, See our website for full results.
Used Judogis: If you have outgrown your judogi or have any unneeded judogis, then please donate them to our second hand judogi program. If you need a bigger judogi, check with me after class to see if we have a used judogi in stock. Our second hand judogi program is intended to help out those families whose children out-grow their judogis. A used judogi is much cheaper than a new judogi. This program works if people hand in their old judogis to the Club. Also you can donate any unneeded belts, white or coloured, to the Club.
Zoris: We also have a new supply of zoris (slippers) in adult sizes. All students should wear zoris (slippers) whenever they are not on the mat, before and after class and during breaks. They are available for the low, low price of $5. If you wish to buy your zoris, please see me after any class.
Newsletter via e-mail: Just a reminder if you have an e-mail account, you can receive our newsletter electronically. Just drop me an e-mail and I will make sure you get the newsletter every month.
If you have any questions regarding the information in this newsletter or need to contact any of the instructors, please contact me at our e-mail address .
