MINUTES
November 2, 2010– 6:45 p.m.
Dave’s Taverna
Present: Mike Guinn, Treasurer; Anieta McCracken, Secretary; Butch Proctor, Vice-President;and Rich Ruozzi, President.
Absent: Jeff “J.C.” Campbell, Member at Large; and John Welsh, Public Relations.
Guests Present: Joe Rudmin
Minutes. The minutes of the July 20, 2010, meetingwere approved as read.
Treasurer’s Report. M. Guinn reported a balance of $3,540.44 in the account.
Turkey Run. R. Ruozzi has contacted the Bridgewater Police Department; the department will provide two police officers at the intersection of Dinkle and North First Street intersection. Logistics were discussed: M. Guinn will contact Dave Frye about helping at the finish line. R. Ruozzi will ask Karen Ruozzi to help and contact JMU for other volunteers. B. Proctor will talk to Food Lion about the 14 turkeys needed for first place awards. M. Guinn will buy water and arrange for port-a-johns. B. Proctor and A. McCracken will buy bananas, bagels and cream cheese, and a box of granola bars. A. McCracken will post the results online after the race.
Keezletown Ten Miler.It is time to promote this race scheduled for May 21. R. Ruoozi will put together an entry form. J. Rudmin will contact Runner’s World and the Running Journal.
R. Ruozzi will contact the four area running clubs.
Shirts. R. Ruozzi suggested ordering three dozen technical singlets and three dozen tees. It was decided that they should have the club logo on the back and Shenandoah Valley Track Club on the front. Rich Ruozzi will order these.
Generations Crossing Race.The Club will not sponsor this race this year.
USATF National Club Meet. USATF is hosting a national meet on December 11 in Charlotte, North Carolina, close enough for area track club members’ participation. Several have expressed interest. R. Ruozzi will get more information.
Weekly Runs. Tuesday runs have been well attended with about 15 per week participating. Anthony Alentado has organized a Wednesday evening run for faster runners; five to six are involved in that run.
Indoor Track Meet. It is time to promote these; R. Ruozzi will post the dates.
Future 10K. R. Ruozzi proposed the idea of a race done in conjunction with Parks and Recreation. Parks and Recreation could run the race and advertise it. Several possible routes were discussed; R. Ruozzi will check the distance of the old 10K/Totem route as one possible course.
Letter of Support for M. Guinn. R. Ruozzi has a copy of the Daily News-Record article supporting M. Guinn in the Kudos and Comments section of the paper. He will get a copy to
M. Guinn.
