Spirit Wear

Order forms for Columbia Eagles spirit wear are in folders tonight! If interested in ordering, please make your selections on the pink sheet, then return to your child’s teacher with your method of payment. Order forms are due by March 10, and items will be delivered the week of March 28.

School News

As spring approaches, students seem to be getting spring fever. We are giving additional reminders of school rules more frequently. Please review the following rules with your child, asking them to show you the hand motions and how they can demonstrate each rule.
Eagleview’s 5 School Rules:
Rule #1 - follow directions quickly,
Rule #2 - raise your hand for permission to speak,
Rule #3 - raise your hand for permission to leave your seat,

Rule #4 - make smart choices,

Rule #5 - keep your dear teacher happy.

Picture Day

If you are interested choosing your child’s background for spring pictures, be sure to return the form that was sent home last week. Pictures can be purchased when proofs come in. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Classroom News

I want to extend a special thank you to all of the parents who sent in box tops this year! Our classroom collected a total of 1,762 box tops to be the winning class for 1st grade! We will receive a donut party from the PTA. J Eagleview collected a total of 17, 474 box tops, earning $1, 747!!!! WOW!!! Be sure to continue clipping and saving box tops for next year!

Book-It

~ Completed February book-it forms will be due Tuesday! I will send our March (the last) form home Tuesday as well.

Spelling

~ New words ~ ask, asked, call, called, clean, cleaned, teach, neat, think,

only, or, buy, right, over, about.

*Be sure to practice these new words daily with your child!

Reading

~ Phonics ~ long e (ea) i.e. eat, cream

~ inflected ending -ed (cleaned, called)

~ long vowel o (CVCe) review (note, home)

~ Compound word review (snowflake)
~ Comprehension Skill ~ Predicting

~Grammar ~ Adjectives (describing words)

Math

~ Adding double digits by counting on and using a place value chart (vertical addition)

~ Be sure to review addition flash cards at home. These math facts should become automatic for children! I am still seeing many kids counting on
their fingers. Timed tests are getting a little more difficult as facts
increase so extra practice is necessary. I will soon be sending home
subtraction flash cards.
