Position: Cougar Kids Camp Group Leader

Duties:

·  Conduct and document daily inspection of activity areas and equipment (5%);

·  Handle on site inquiries, concerns, conflict situations and discipline (15%);

·  Administer first aid/handle emergency situations and contact emergency services as necessary (2.5%);

·  Complete appropriate forms as necessary (5%);

·  Enforce program, department, University, and state policies (5%);

·  Prepare and supervise camp activities and facilities (20%);

·  Supervise movement of campers between stations (5%);

·  Supervise pool/locker room activities (5%);

·  Assist with camper check in/check out procedures (5%);

·  Instruct campers in various sport, game, craft and outdoor activities (25%);

·  Report emergencies and hazards through program reporting lines (2.5%);

·  Other duties as assigned (5%).

Essential Skills:

·  Ability to resolve conflicts involving campers

·  Customer service skills

·  Ability to uphold departmental policies in stressful situations

·  Ability to recognize risks and implement departmental risk management procedures

·  Excellent written and verbal communication skills

·  Knowledge of camp games and activities

·  Experience working with children preferred

·  Experience with pool activities preferred

Pre-Employment Certification & Training (will be available to candidates):

·  Pass background screening

·  American Red Cross First Aid, CPR and AED

·  American Red Cross Epi Pen and Asthma Training

·  Blood Borne Pathogens: Preventing Disease Transmission

·  Successful completion of WSU Sexual Harassment Training

Level of Responsibility: Level 3, Suitable for entry

Hours per Week:

·  Variable, must be available for a minimum of 20-40 hours a week

·  Shifts are Monday – Friday, some Thursday/Friday Overnights

·  This position runs from the middle of May to the middle of August each summer

Hourly Wage: $10.00-10.50, depending on experience
