About the Role

If you are an individual who is looking for a challenging and rewarding opportunity and is adaptable, self-sufficient and enjoys working in a busy and professional environment, we are looking for an experienced, enthusiastic and professional individual to join our team as an Ergonomist. As an Ergonomist with WCB you must be service-oriented, well organized and motivated by a challenge with a focus on helping the WCB deliver excellent service to workers, employers and all workers’ compensation system stakeholders in Nova Scotia.

Reporting to the Manager, Practice Leadership, the Ergonomist collaborates with the Ergonomics Process Leader (EPL) on the ergonomics strategy for proper alignment and execution as set out by the WCB Corporate Goals and Long Term Business Plan. The Ergonomist will facilitate the "participatory ergonomics" approach, transitional duties and other relevant prevention and return-to-work education processes with external customers and stakeholders; participate across functional lines to achieve integrated services with our customers through education and promotion of prevention and return-to-work services.

The Ergonomist is accountable for serving external customers by providing expertise in the discipline

of ergonomics and prevention with the goal of preventing musculoskeletal injuries (MSI), improving overall health, enhancing productivity, quality and morale in the workplace. The incumbent will provide

coaching services to Nova Scotia employers and workers on ergonomic matters, including the safe design of workstations, tools, equipment, machinery and systems. The Ergonomist will provide

direction to employers and workers on injury reduction measures, based on sound ergonomic principles.

As safety champions, all employees are responsible for following safe work procedures; using personal protective and safety equipment as required; knowing and complying with all regulations; reporting any illness or injury immediately to their manager; reporting unsafe acts and unsafe conditions; and cooperating with occupational health and safety initiatives. As an ideal candidate, you possess:

The successful candidate will be a university graduate (4-year) with a major in Ergonomics or Human Factors Engineering or a related health care profession. Experience working in the field of ergonomics or a related health care profession is required for this position. The successful candidate must be eligible for certification through one of the International Ergonomics Associations’ (IEA) endorsed international certification organizations (i.e. BCPE, CREE, etc.). Experience facilitating Participatory Ergonomics would be an asset for this position.

Travel is a requirement; must have a valid driver’s license and daily use of a dependable safe automobile.

The ideal candidate will possess strong written and oral communication skills, with an ability to relate complex concepts in a straight forward manner. The incumbent will be proficient in the use of MS Office suite of computer applications and other office technology as well as telecommunications equipment appropriate to the job function is required.

We offer a competitive compensation package including a salary range of $58,066 - $72,584
