CONCENTRATIONS

Anthropology has 7 concentrations, which students are welcome to choose from in planning out their courses. This is voluntary, but encouraged. Once you have chosen a concentration and taken the courses you need in order to meet its requirements, the Department will give you a certificate attesting to this.

The concentrations are as follows:

Students are required to complete a minimum of five courses in order to be eligible for a concentration. (Aside from these, other courses may also sometimes be accepted for a course concentration with the approval of the Curriculum Committee; please see Prof. Gordon Mathews).

You are encouraged to begin thinking about concentrations early on, in your first year of study. There is, however, no need to formally declare the concentration until your final year of study, when you will have taken all the courses you need. When you have taken all the courses you need for a concentration, please submit the form on the next page to the Department Office.
