Spelling/Vocabulary Words:

  • Pilgrim: Someone who travels to a holy place; one of the people who traveled by boat from England and created the first permanent settlement in New England at Plymouth in 1620.
  • Internecine: Conflict or fighting between groups.
  • Compact: An agreement between two or more people or groups.
  • Ally: A person or group that gives help to another person or group; a partner.
  • Self-government: Government or control of a country, group, etc., by its own members rather than by the members of a different country, group, etc.
  • Proprietary colony: A colony owned and ruled by one person who was chosen by a king or queen.
  • Majority rule: A political system in which the group that has the most members has the power to make decisions

  • TheValentine’s Dancewill be held in the gym onFebruary 10thfrom 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (5th- 8th grade).Tickets are now on sale $5.00 pre-sale / $7.00 at the door. Pre-sales ends on Friday, February 10th at 12 noon.This event is a time to celebrate as a Wilder’s family and promote positive interactions.Any student not in good academic and behavioral standing with the academy will not be permitted to attend.
  • Mark your calendars! The Black History Program is scheduled for February 25, 2017 (more details coming soon).

5th Grade Activities:

As we move towards the end of the school year, there are many activities planned for the 5th grade class. Participating in fundraisers and making donations, will ensure this is a year to remember! Below are some important fee deadlines for upcoming events:

  • Pinning Ceremony - $10 per person due onFebruary 8th (2 guest maximum)
  • World’s Finest Chocolate Fundraiser- $60 for the box of chocolate due on February 13th, or a $30 donation.
  • D.A.R.E. (OPTIONAL) - $15 per student due on February 24th
  • 5th Grade Panorama Picture- $17 per student due on February 27th
  • Class Shirt- $17 per student due on March 3rd

Focus for the Weekend:

  • Continue to practice multiplication facts up to 12 (Math)
  • Practice adding fractions with unlike denominators (Math)
  • Practice identifying fractions on a number line (Math)
  • Review Chapter 3 Lesson 1 for upcoming test(Science)
  • Review Social Studies material for upcoming unit assessment test (Social Studies)
