Beat 3 Monthly Report - August 2013
Beat 3 is made up of the parishes of Oakley, North Waltham, Steventon, Deane, Popham, Malshanger and Wootton St Lawrence.
In total we had 44 occurrences that required police attention on beat 3 for the month of August, of that number 20 are actual crimes and include theft of fuel from the filling stations on the A303 and theft of fuel from goods vehicles parked overnight on the A30. I will report on the following:
Burglary in a dwelling
A daytime burglary occurred at The Greenaways, Oakley between 09:45 and midday on August 15th whilst the occupant briefly left their home leaving it secure. The rear patio doors were forced and a lap top was stolen from the lounge.
Overnight on August 22nd an attempt was made to force entry to a property in Hill Road, Oakley. The letterbox was forced off, however no entry was gained and nothing stolen.
Burglary other than a dwelling
A bicycle was stolen overnight on August 5th from an insecure garage in Lightsfield.
Overnight on August 30th entry was forced to a barn and a further industrial unit at Stoken Farm, Steventon. An oxyacetylene cutter and a trailer were stolen along with tools. The trailer and cutter were later located at Manor Farm, Highclere and had been used in a burglary at that location on the same night in which a quad bike was been stolen. The cutter was used to release the bike that had been secured to the ground with metal locks.
Theft
An attempt was made overnight on August 21st to steal domestic oil from a property near to North Waltham.
On August 7th between 08:15 and 09:50 a set of ladders were stolen from the roof of a BT van whilst the driver was working in a property in Longfield, North Waltham.
Threat to Kill -ASB
A resident of Glamis Close, Oakley, was the subject of an Anti-social Behaviour Injunction brought about by Affinity Sutton Housing Association in May this year after he had continued to threaten a resident in the same block of flats and cause general nuisance in the block. On August 15th he breached the injunction by threatening to kill the neighbour. He was swiftly arrested and remanded in custody overnight to attend court the following morning where he was sentenced to prison for one week for the threat to kill. A date was set for August 23rd for the Injunction Hearing at which he was sentenced to 9 months in prison. Affinity Sutton will now serve a notice to repossess the property. A further flat in Glamis Close, which the occupant had abandoned and was being used by persons of no fixed abode to come and go from, is due to be repossessed by Affinity Sutton.
Anti-social Behaviour
Despite the school holidays there has been no reported hotspot for anti-social behaviour. Of the 44 incidents reported 9 relate to ASB which include nuisance regarding neighbours, noise and vehicles. As you can see by the report above, it is not necessary to put up with constant disruption from anti-social behaviour caused by the same person. Multi-agency working with other authorities can result in a very positive outcome on occasion, however it does mean that whatever the problem is it must be reported via 101 each time it happens to provide us with the evidence we need to progress. Don’t suffer unnecessarily.
