Traveling Trophy Rules

Traveling trophies are open to members in good standing of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. during the previous calendar year. A dog or bitch will be considered eligible if its custodial owner is a member in good standing and was registered as the owner on the date the title or points were awarded. No ownership shall be created fraudulently for the sole purpose of creating eligibility. To receive a trophy, at least one owner or co-owner must be a member and live in the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. and the trophy must remain with the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. member. A dog or bitch owned by a member in good standing who lives outside of the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club will also be considered eligible for top dog status if said member actively assists in the running of at least one club event during the previous year. In these cases, eligibility will be restricted to top dog status and all benefits therein with the exception that the trophy will remain in the custody of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club.

The word “dog” wherever used in these rule includes both sexes, except for “Show Dog of the Year” trophy which shall be for dogs and “Show Bitch of the Year” trophy which shall be for bitches.

It will be the responsibility of each winner to make sure the trophy is returned in good condition to the Traveling Trophy Chairman with enough time for him/her to have it engraved with the name of the new winning dog and/or bitch for the presentation, by the respective Chairman or his representative, to the new winner at the Annual Banquet Meeting.

The Club will give equally symbolic token trophies, to be purchased by the Trophy Chairman (value to be approved by the board) to the previous owners of the winning dog and /or bitch for their permanent possession. No Traveling Trophy will be retained permanently, by any member.

Each member will be responsible for keeping an accurate record of his or her dogs’ or bitches’ wins, placements, and resultant Traveling Trophy points, and be responsible for getting these points to the Traveling Trophy Chairman.

The points for any of these traveling trophies will be counted by the Traveling Trophy Chairman from the official show results as listed in the National Weimaraner Magazine, AKC Awards, marked catalogues and/or marked running orders for that calendar year. Only AKC Member or Licensed Show and /or Trial wins will be computed for the final point results.

These point totals shall be submitted to the Traveling Trophy Chairman by December 31st for final tabulation and determination of the winning dog and/or bitch. Points earned during the final 7 days of each given year (December 25th-31st) may be submitted up until January 7th of the following year. Only points that are earned during the last seven days of the year will be accepted after December 31st.

Points towards the traveling trophies will be tabulated only during that period of the year the owner is a member in good standing.

Changes or Amendments to these rules may be proposed by the Board of Directors or by written petition addressed to the Secretary signed by twenty percent of the membership in good standing. Changes or Amendments proposed by such petitions shall be promptly considered by the Board of Directors and must be submitted to the members with recommendations of the Board by the Secretary for a vote within three months of the date the petition was received by the Secretary.

Proposed changes or Amendments to these rules must be sent to all members in good standing at least 10 days but no more that two weeks before the meeting at which they are to be voted on. A two-thirds majority of members present and voting is required to change or amend these rules.

Traveling Trophies- Show Dog and Show Bitch of the Year

The Traveling Trophy for Show Dog of the Year and for Show Bitch of the Year is offered by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. to encourage the agilities of Weimaraners in the show ring. These traveling trophies are open to members in good standing of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. during the previous calendar year. A dog or bitch will be considered eligible if its custodial owner is a member in good standing and was registered as the owner on the date the title or points were awarded. No ownership shall be created fraudulently for the sole purpose of creating eligibility. To receive a trophy, at least one owner or co-owner must be a member and live in the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. and the trophy must remain with the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. member. A dog or bitch owned by a member in good standing who lives outside of the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club will also be considered eligible for top dog status if said member actively assists in the running of at least one club event during the previous year. In these cases, eligibility will be restricted to top dog status and all benefits therein with the exception that the trophy will remain in the custody of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club.

The Point Totals will be determined as follows:

(a)  Breed Competition

Winners Dog or Winners Bitch- 5 points plus the number of dogs defeated

Best of Winners- 10 points plus the number of dogs defeated

Judges Select- 5 points

Best of Opposite Sex- 15 points plus the number of dogs defeated in its own sex

Best of Breed- 20 points plus the number of dogs defeated

(b)  All-Breed Competition

BIS- number of dogs defeated.

Group 1st- number of dogs defeated

Group 2nd-number of dogs defeated

Group 3rd- number of dogs defeated

Group 4th- number of dogs defeated.

(c)  Specialty Shows

Winners Dog or Winners Bitch-10 points plus number of dogs defeated

Best of Winners-20 points plus number of dogs defeated.

Judges Select- 10 points

Best of Opposite sex-30 points plus number of dogs defeated in its own sex

Best of Breed-100 points plus the number of dogs defeated.

(d)  National Specialty Shows

Winners Dog or Winners Bitch- 25 points plus the number of dogs defeated

Best of Winners- 50 points plus the number of dogs defeated

Judges Select- 25 points

Best of Opposite Sex- 75 points plus the number of dogs defeated

Best of Breed- 100 points plus the number of dogs defeated

(e)  Futurity-Placements from either Senior, Intermediate or Junior Classes

1st-20 points plus number of dogs defeated

2nd-15 points plus number of dogs defeated

3rd- 10 points plus number of dogs defeated

4th-5 points plus number of dogs defeated.

Best Dog or Best Bitch in Futurity-25 points plus number of dogs defeated in its own sex.

(f)  Maturity – Classes for Maturity Dogs and Maturity Bitches

Same as Futurity

POINTS ARE NOT CUMULATIVE AT ANY LEVEL OF COMPETITION

For example: If you win Best of Breed through the classes, you CANNOT count the points for Winners, Best of Winners, or Best of Opposite Sex. You can ONLY count the number of dogs defeated at the highest level, Best of Breed.

A special award plaque will be given to any Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. member’s dog that completes his/her Bench Champion (CH) Title and/or his/her Grand Bench Champion (GrCH) in the given year.

Traveling Trophies

Puppy, Derby and All-Age Field Trial Weimaraner Of The Year

These Traveling Trophies are offered by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. to

recognize and encourage the abilities of Weimaraners in field trials. These traveling trophies are open to members in good standing of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. during the previous calendar year. A dog or bitch will be considered eligible if its custodial owner is a member in good standing and was registered as the owner on the date the points were awarded. No ownership shall be created fraudulently for the sole purpose of creating eligibility To receive a trophy, at least one owner or co-owner must be a member and live in the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. and the trophy must remain with the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. member. A dog or bitch owned by a member in good standing who lives outside of the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club will also be considered eligible for top dog status if said member actively assists in the running of at least one club event during the previous year. In these cases, eligibility will be restricted to top dog status and all benefits therein with the exception that the trophy will remain in the custody of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club.

In determining the winners, the following point system will be used:

1st-place------4 points X the AKC point value of the stake.

2nd place------3 points X the AKC point value of the stake.

3rd-place------2 points X the AKC point value of the stake.

4th-place------1 point X the AKC point value of the stake.

AKC POINT VALUE:

1-3 DOGS------no points

4-7 DOGS------1 point

8-12 DOGS------2 points

13-17 DOGS------3 points

18-24 DOGS------4 points

25 DOGS and over------5 points

Double the points in Sectionals and all-breed stakes and triple the points in Nationals, including Open and Amateur Championships, Gun Dog Classics, Derby Classics and Puppy Classics.

A.  Puppy Field Trial Trophy-----This Award shall be made on the basis of any AKC licensed or Member Field Trial wins and placements during Puppy Age Competition of that calendar year.

B.  Edgar D. Jones Memorial Derby Field Trial Trophy—This Award shall be made on the basis of any AKC Licensed of Member Field Trial wins and placements in Derby Stake Competition for the calendar year.

C.  All-Age Field Trial trophy—This award shall be made on the basis of any AKC Licensed or Member Field Trial wins and placements in Open All-Age, Open Gun Dog, Am. All-Age, Am. Gun Dog, Limited Open Gun Dog, Limited Am. Gun Dog, for the calendar year.

A special award plaque will be given to any Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc .member’s dog that completes his/her Field Trial Championship (FC), Amateur Field Trial Championship (AFC), and National Field Trial Championship (NFC), National Amateur Field Trial Championship (NAFC) Title in the given year.

Obedience Weimaraner Of The Year

The Traveling Trophy for Obedience Weimaraner Of The Year is offered by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. to recognize and encourage the abilities of Weimaraners in the obedience ring. This traveling trophy is open to members in good standing of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. during the previous calendar year. A dog or bitch will be considered eligible if its custodial owner is a member in good standing and was registered as the owner on the date the title or points were awarded. No ownership shall be created fraudulently for the sole purpose of creating eligibility. To receive a trophy, at least one owner or co-owner must be a member and live in the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. and the trophy must remain with the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. member. A dog or bitch owned by a member in good standing who lives outside of the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club will also be considered eligible for top dog status if said member actively assists in the running of at least one club event during the previous year. In these cases, eligibility will be restricted to top dog status and all benefits therein with the exception that the trophy will remain in the custody of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club.

Agility Weimaraner Of The Year

The Traveling Trophy for Agility Weimaraner Of The Year is offered by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. to recognize and encourage the abilities of Weimaraners in the agility ring. This traveling trophy is open to members in good standing of the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. during the previous calendar year. A dog or bitch will be considered eligible if its custodial owner is a member in good standing and was registered as the owner on the date the title or points were awarded. No ownership shall be created fraudulently for the sole purpose of creating eligibility. To receive a trophy, at least one owner or co-owner must be a member and live in the geographical area served by the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. and the trophy must remain with the Southern Michigan Weimaraner Club, Inc. member.
