One Day National Seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Laboratory Medicine’

Department of Microbiology and School of Paramedical Sciences had organized One Day National Seminar on ‘Emerging Trends in Laboratory Medicine’ on Sunday, the 14th January, 2018.

Dr. M. B. Agarwal (MD) President Mumbai Haematology Group and Professor and Head, Dept of Haematology, Bombay Hospital Institute of Medical Science, Mumbai had kindly graced the inaugural function as the Chief Guest. Dr. Yogesh Acharya (MD), Member, Governing Council, Birla College, Kalyan was the Guest of Honour for the inaugural function.

Dr. Naresh Chandra, Principal, Birla College welcomed Dr. M. B. Agarwal andemphasized on the need to upgrade knowledge of diagnostics in laboratory medicine. He reiterated that Chief GuestDr. M. B. Agarwal and his keynote address will definitely enlighten and guide the students, for being the future medical laboratory technicians.

The Key Note address of Dr. M. B. Agarwal was highly enriching and motivating. He stated that “since the lives of patients are at stake, the laboratory technicians need to be very well read, accurate and precise in their work’. It was a memorable experience for faculty, students and laboratory technicians to interact with such a renowned Haematologist, who has contributed immensely in the field of Haematology and Haemato-oncology.

Dr. Agarwal‘s presentation on ‘Who is a bleeder?’ with reference to actual case studies, handled by him from Kalyan and Dombivli were highly informative and elaborate. He explained the significance of analytical skills at each and every step of test to be carried out for reaching the final diagnosis. All the participants have immensely enjoyed the lecture.

The other eminent speakers were Dr. Pradeep Sharma (MD, DPB), Dr. SarojBolde (MD), Dr. SubhaprakashSanyal (MD) and Dr. AnuradhaSriram (MD) who have informedparticipants about advances in different fields of laboratory medicine.

The seminar was attended by 175 delegates from variousparamedical sciencescolleges.

The event was co-ordinated by Dr. Maninder Dhaliwal, Dr. ShubhangiChitnis and Dr. DhirajShekhawat.
