60- 70 Get ready to work because you fall into the land of average. As a listener, the bad news/good news should be clear. The bad news is the simple fact that average listening will relegate you to the average rank of leaders. The good news is you have identified specific opportunities for development. Moreover, your conscious investment will provide significant returns. Average listeners hold the benefit, potential, and opportunity of quantum gain. By putting your energies into building new listening leader habits, you will profit immensely.

The PLAN to Improve:

The items that stood out to me the most were my impatience with non-needed information when listening to people. I most often get frustrated and then my mind begins to drift into another place. I didn’t see this as a flaw, but maybe by design since I tend to fall into the content classification of listener. I do think that I probably interrupt speakers to often to get my questions answered, instead of taking notes and then asking towards then end in the time allocated for that. I noticed the text book recommended that ration of listening 80% of the time and talking 20%. I plan on trying that and using more notes for future meetings and presentations. Then use whatever feedback mechanism they provide for my questions.
