COMMUNICATIONS

Tess Phillips and Adrienne Messer represented the FBLA student input by giving an overview of the year’s activities.

Mrs. Becky Reinig (Music Education) reported on classroom and program activities.

CONSENT AGENDA

The board approved minutes of the February meeting, financial reports and set the board reorganization meeting for April 19th at 7 p.m.

NEW BUSINESS

A 2017-18 salary schedule was also adopted. The schedule is the same as the current 2016-17. Any increases will likely be voted on in April along with extra duty assignments.

ITEMS FOR INFORMATION

Mrs. Hall discussed McTeacher night last night (3-15-17). February 28-March 3rd was Read Across America Week in which the elementary and middle school students celebrated. Sixty-six volunteer readers came into classrooms and dress-up days were enjoyed. Preschool will be presenting their Nursery Rhyme Program on March 21st. On March 24th the 6th grade MARC graduation will be in Maryville. The 7th grade hunter safety program will be in Mound City on March 24th and the 8th grade will be attending a Julius Caesar Production at the State Theater that day as well. PK Screening is March 27th/28th and PAT Screening is April 3rd. The 275 Conference Spelling Bee will be held at Mound City on March 29th. State Testing Week will be April 25th.

Mr. Miles reported some of the upcoming activities are the 275 Conference Spelling Bee on March 29th, County Government Day for Freshmen on April 24th, High School District Band Competition at NWMSU on April 6th, Prom on April 1st, and FFA District competition in Maryville on April 4th and 5th. Scholar Bowl students have been competing in tournaments and the 275 Conference Tournament will be held in Mound City on March 25th and the District Tournament on April 8th in Tarkio. The first High School Track meet will be held at Worth County on March 23rd, and the first Junior High Track meet will be April 3rd. Panther Relays are on April 28th and Squaw Creek Relays on April 10th. The Boys Golf team will begin their season on March 22nd. The End of Course Testing is May 1st-5th.

Mr. Eaton mentioned he will be attending another planning meeting for an alternative school in the area on March 23rd. The board approved J-E Construction for the concrete drainage swale in the north parking lot. Construction will begin as soon as possible. The board also approved Robert Wilmes for the tuck pointing project beginning this summer on the 1914 portion of the campus. Mound City R-2 was selected as a Missouri Model District last month. Administrators met with DESE officials in late February with the details of the honor. Our district will be helping shape the new standards for the Missouri School Improvement Program’s 6th Cycle. Mound City is one of 15 districts out of Missouri’s 524 to be selected to participate. The criteria was based from the district’s collaborative work model, positive behavior support system, standardized test scores, low drop-out rate, high attendance rate, and college/career readiness of graduates. Mound City is the only district in Northwest Missouri to be selected.

The board approved hiring Carly Edwards for the HS Secretary position.
