OVERVIEW

Debevoise’s commercial litigation group handles the full range of commercial disputes that our clients face in the courts, both in England and internationally. We are regularly instructed on high-profile, complex litigation matters including appellate work. We have specialist experience in contractual and restructuring related disputes and investigations and the group is regularly instructed to advise FTSE 100 companies, professional services firms on a wide range of matters.

RESPONSIBILTIES

  • Managing junior associates and trainees in the delivery of commercial and legal advice under the supervision of partners/senior associates
  • Liaising with partners/senior associates on case strategy
  • Responsibility for legal research on issues for live litigation matters
  • Attending meetings with clients and local counsel
  • Contributing to knowledge management and business development initiatives, including preparing articles and speeches

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Hold a first class undergraduate degree, with at least one year of postgraduate study
  • Admitted to practice law in a common law jurisdiction with excellent academics
  • Must have worked for at least four years as a qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdictionas an associate or as legal counsel
  • Must have had significant international experience. Experience of working in Hong Kong/Australia is desirable.
  • Must have experience of working on large scale multijurisdictional commercial litigation matters for large companies and to have worked on significant matters involving financial institutions or banks.

  • Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to prioritise
  • Ability to work within tight time frames and to deliver to deadline
