Teasing is the way some people make you feel sad or angry

Most teasing is done by people to upset other people.

People who tease other people may call them names, or say lies about them, or pick on something the other person find important like science.

If someone teases me, I am going to try to ignore their words by closing my ears, turning my back and walking away.

Most of the time the person will go away because I have remained calm, and ignored them.

If the person follows me I will try to continue to ignore them and go tell a person who can help me.

One of my friends can help me or the teacher can help me.

My family can also help me by listening to me after school.

By ignoring the person teasing me, I am not reacting or paying them any attention.

Some teasing could be meant as a joke, if the person is trying to get you to laugh.

Joke teasing is usually between friends that know that what they say will be laughed at.

Joke teasing is usually happy teasing, that does not make you feel uncomfortable.

I am proud of myself for ignoring a teaser, I am proud of myself for remaining calm.

What is bullying?

Bullying is when one person continues to tease, hurt or scare another person.

Bullies can be anyone, not just the biggest kid, they can be girls as well as boys.

Bullies can be younger children and groups of children.

Bullies try hard to make another person feel less important.

Bullies will tease you about things you like, bullies will trip you or hit you or take something away from you.

Bullies usually feel better than the person they tease, it makes a bully feel good by making someone else sad.

Some bullies may have been bullied and this is the only way they know how to mix with people.

If I feel I am being bullied I need to go straight to the teacher on duty and tell them what happened.

I also need to tell my class teacher that I feel I was bullied by a child; I need to tell my teacher what happened.

Sometimes when I tell what happened, I forget to think how the other person feels to things I say and do, so it is a good idea to tell the teacher what I said and what I did before I was bullied.

My teacher is happy with me for telling the whole story.

I am happy that I have remained calm and responded in the best way.
