Career highlights
With over 40 years experience within structural engineering, 23 years of which have been spent in the Middle East, I have extensive Local and International experience and knowledge in the design and design management of Commercial, Institutional, Heavy Industrial and Power generation/Distribution projects.

Senior Civil - Structural Engineer (Project Management), on the ADNOC New Headquarters Building Underground Car Park & Dedicated District Cooling Plant at the western end of Abu Dhabi Corniche.
Responsible for checking the Contractor’s Re-design and drawings, for the underground car park from insitu to a precast concrete solution and a design-build District Cooling Plant.

May 2011 – Oct 2011 Principle Engineer in the main design office for the GascoHabshan 5 and Buhasa Non-Process buildings design for the EPC civil contractor.

Reporting to the Power Systems Manager, I was responsible for the administration of all civil and structural design projects in the Abu Dhabi office, with a team of 3 designers and 6 CAD draftsmen. Other responsibilities include: Evaluating new bid work, financial control of current projects, preparation of tenders, QA/QC auditing and interviewing prospective staff:
Design Projects Include:
- Al Shuwaihat 1500 MW power station for CMS Design Engineering services for civil contractor. In 14 months, 700 drawings including BBS and 60 design books issued.
- Oman. Sohar sea water intake structure. One of the largest industrial intakes in the world. 48 No. pump bays, each designed to deliver 16,000m3 of water per hour. This structure is 200m long, 80m wide and 11m deep.
- Various electrical substations, 400/132/33/11kv, fast-track design engineering services for main contractors.

- Resident Engineer on the Regional Police & Fire stations, Qatar in Oct 1982.
- Senior Design Engineer based in the Doha, Qatar HQ, reporting to the Resident Manager. Was responsible for all aspects of locally procured projects from initial design to site supervision.
- Seconded to DUBAL (Dubai Aluminium) to design the structural aspects of a new hotbed process. I was responsible for all work on the project, which included site survey, production of design / drawings. Specification, tender / report and site supervision to completion in 1984.
- Senior structural engineer based in the U.K in the year of 1985.
- Resident Engineer based in Abu Dhabi, supervising the construction of 15 No. self supporting microwave towers for Emirates Telecommunications. The towers ranged in height from 165 metre to 40m. Responsible for all aspects of supervision including client/contractor liaison in the year 1986.
- Senior Design Engineer based in the Abu Dhabi HQ. Responsible for all aspects of locally procured projects, mainly in the private sector.
