[School name]would like to participate in the program: Operation Reboot: Transforming unemployed IT workers into high school computing teachers. Here at [school name] we currently offer [Computing in the Modern World, Beginning Programming, Intermediate Programming, and/or Advanced Placement Computer Science A]. The unemployed IT workers will be certified through the Georgia Alternative Preparation Program (GaTAPP).
We agree to the following requirements for the program:
- We will work with Georgia Tech to schedule interviews with the unemployed IT workers. We will give Georgia Tech our top 3 choices of IT workers by May 13th 2011.
- We will allow the unemployed IT worker to co-teach at least two Computing classes (or sections) of Computing in the Modern World, Beginning Programming, Intermediate Programming, and/or Advanced Placement Computer Science Awith an existing computing teacher for one year (1 a semester if on block).
- The existing computing teacher agrees to do at least 3 observations of the IT worker each semester. He or she will be paid $250 each semester for the observations.
- The existing computing teacher agrees to attend at least 1 short (one-day) teacher workshop each semester and at least 1 of the week-long summer workshops in the summer of 2011 for the co-taught course(s). The existing computing teacher can earn a stipend for attending and completing all required work for the workshops.
- The existing computing teacher agrees to participate in the evaluation of the program. He or she also agrees to meeting with the assigned mentor in computer science at least 5 times during the program.
We see thisprogram as an excellent opportunity for our current computing teacher. [He or she] willenhance [his or her] computing knowledge by working withan IT professional and by attending training at Georgia Tech on innovative ways to teach computing. We plan to grow our computing program to include [Beginning Programming, Intermediate Programming, Advanced Placement Computer Science A]. We want to prepare our students for the future by providing them with innovative computing courses thatteach 21st century skills.
