President’s Message

Hi Everyone,

It’s been a very busy month for Corral 22! First, I would like to congratulate Liz Blackwelder, a lifetime member of Corral 22. The City of La Canada Flintridge awarded the Lifetime Achievement Volunteer to Liz. Liz is a true warrior on saving our trails!

Hayden Smart of Corral 22 won two first place ribbons in the 2013 ETI Convention Photography Contest! Congratulations Hayden!

Inspiration Point Ride on August 3rd was fabulous! We had perfect weather; Our Trail Boss was Susan Jackson riding “Pard,” her lovely mule. Fourteen riders followed Susan on Pard on mostly single-track trails through beautiful mountain trails. The views were outstanding! Some of the trails were on the PCT and the Blue Ridge Mountain Trail. We rode back to our staging area and dismounting everyone had a smile on their faces thinking “Great ride!” A special thanks to Susan for leading the ride. Thanks to Kathleen Ungamrung our VP, for taking care of the paperwork and for being our Drag rider.

Our upcoming events are:

September 18th will be our Trail Plan Meeting. Susy Ellinger has graciously offered her home to us for the meeting. Be there by 6:00 p.m. to dine on pizza and have a cold beverage. So come with your ideas and plans for a good trail ride or campout. Remember we need Trail Bosses to lead these rides and the trails have to be pre-ridden before putting a ride on.

September 26th is our General Meeting which is held at Mi Casitas. We need a nominating committee; elections will be held on November 21st! Please think about running for an office, we need new blood with new ideas.

September 26th is the Mulligan Stew Ride. We need help!! We need someone to run the goody wagon, the poker game and the 50-50 game. The ride will be held at Gwen Allen’s beautiful ranch. Gwen is our former C22 President and ETI National President. We will start serving the stew as soon as we come in from our ride. This way those of you who need to get home right away can leave.

Oct. 13th is the Mount Pinos Ride. Our Trail Coordinator Tiffanie Bailey has a special treat in store for us on this ride!!!!!!!

General Meeting

Our next meeting will be held September 26th. This will be on the fourth Thursday, unless September 19th would work for you?? I can’t combine the Trail Plan Meeting and the General Meeting together because there is too much material to cover in one meeting. I’m open to suggestions.
