Welcome to Rundviks Pistol Club.

Hopefully we can help you to learn a little bit about us by providing this document on the web. Our club was founded in 1961 and as you can see on the map, we are located in the north of Sweden. To be more exact in the rural district of Nordmaling which is located in the administrative province of Västerbotten. There we have our clubhouse and our two shooting facilities where we practice and compete with almost every type of pistol and revolver, allowed by the two national associations that we are members of. We are currently about 70 members. Several members have competed and some have even medals from the Swedish Championships.

The club practice several shooting branches, international and national ones. Largest in our club is the national ones. One of the national branches is shot on a steady 10 scaled target at a distance of 25 meters. The shooter fires 5 to 24 series of 5 bullets (7 and 10 is normal). The shooter has 6 minutes to spend on each serie. The club record in that branch is 492 points of 500 possible ones (10 series). The other national branch is shot out in the field. The total is 48 or 60 bullets fired on targets that can be steady or movable and in various shapes and sizes. The shooter fires 6 bullets at each station and the time can be from just a few seconds to a half minute.

It is quite cheap to paractice shooting in our club because we have several pistols and revolvers that members can borrow when they visit our shooting facilities. They only need to pay for the amunition and in some cases also the other material they use. The membership fee is also low, only 200 SEK (29 USD) a year. To try is free of charge the first times, but after a while we want the beginner to apply for membership. The membership is voluntary and only possible for Swedish citizens. Young or old, man or woman, everyone is welcome to our club as long as they follow the membership rules that can be seen at this site in swedish.

Unlike many other countries such as for example the United States, Sweden have much more strict laws regarding firearms. A person is not allowed to own firearms unless he / she is a hunter or practice a sport that contains the need of a firearm. Theoretical knowledge is also required.

If a member wants to purchase a firearm he / she need to have been a member for 1 year and fulfilled some shooting results and have skills in handling firearms to get a certificate from us. The member needs the certificate when he / she is applying for a licence to own firearms at the local policestation. A person can never own firearms if a criminal record exists or if he / she is under 18 years old. Naturally there is some other factors that need to be fulfilled such as safe storage of the firearm to take one example. A licence is valid for 5 years and is renewed only as long as the owner is active in the sport. If he / she is a hunter the licence rules are a little bit different.
