Eligibility Requirements

The Elgin Knights of Columbus Council # 8225 scholarship is awarded to Elgin Sacred Heart Catholic Church Parish Members who are graduating from Elgin High School during the academic 2015-2016 school year. Scholarships will be awarded based on academic excellence, extracurricular activities, faith based activity involvement, recommendation letters, and a short essay. Recipient(s) must be enrolled at a college/universityno later than the Fall Semester of 2016. The number of scholarship(s) awarded by the council varies per year and range from sums of $200-$500. To be considered for the scholarship, please ensure:

  1. The application is completed in its entirety, including the essay
  2. A transcript of the student’s high school grades is included.
  3. The application must be submitted by the deadline date of:March 31, 2016.

*(Proof of enrollment at a college/ university must be provided to Councilno later than October 15, 2016for issuance of the scholarship (i.e. acceptance letter, tuition bill, class schedule, etc). Checks will be forwarded to the institution’s “Financial Aid and Scholarship Office” for disbursement of funds to student).

The Knights of Columbus are dedicated to the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity and Patriotism. Family and Faithare foundational pillars of the Knights. Letters ofrecommendations that reflect these precepts in regards to the applicant are highly recommended. Other important considerations include the applicant's academics,character, citizenship and leadership.
