Computer Accounting is a college prep elective designed for students who:

A. are interested in business finances

B. are self-motivated, computer literate, and

C. have completed Algebra I with a "C" or better

Text: C21 Accounting 8E General Journal ($60 replacement fee)

Workbook: C21 Accounting Working Papers 1-16 ($18 replacement fee)

Pencil required, calculator highly recommended, notebook paper needed.

Course Description:

This course will teach the fundamentals of an accounting cycle for a service business organized as a proprietorship, and for a merchandising business organized as a corporation. The principles of accounting will then be applied to the computer using industry standard software for general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll.

Expected Student Outcome:

The purpose of Computer Accounting is to provide students with occupational skills that will prepare them for employment or advanced academic training. In addition, the ROP students will develop skills and positive working attitudes that will contribute to the economic development of their community.

Assignment and Grading Criteria:

All classwork and homework is given a point value which when totaled will make up the current grade. Assignments include, daily classwork, homework, quizzes, tests, and projects. Citizenship grades include participation, cooperation, and attitude. Current grades will be available online. It is your responsibility to check your Aeries account any my web page.

Letter grades are based on the following:

A = 90 to 100% of total points possible

B = 80 to 89% of total points possible

C = 70 to 79% ………..

Homework:

Homework will be routine in this class. You must have the textbook, workbook, and note paper everyday to complete the assignments. No exceptions. Pencil required for the workbook! Be responsible. Students have one week to make up all excused absent work for full credit. After one week, half credit can be earned. Tests and Quizzes can be completed during study hall. NO WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER THE GRADING PERIODS END, or for suspensions or cuts.

Studies show that attendance and academic success go together. See the student handbook for policies that will be followed in this class. It is never too late to start good habits.
