This months interview is with Gary Rogers.Gary playedfor St Cuthberts and the Meath Football Senior Team before turning to professional soccer. He is the current goalkeeper with DundalkFC and was also part of the Republic of Ireland Squad that played the Netherlands this year.

Gary is the Meath sportsperson of the yearfor2015.

Interview Number 4- Gary Rogers

1.Name and relationship with St Cuthberts.

2.How long were you involved in the club and in what capacity.

I played all my under age football from under 6 up to minor with St Cuthberts.

3.What are your hobbies.

I like to play golf if I get any spare time.

4.Favourite film.

lots of good one but I still like the hangover

5.Biggest sporting hero and why.

Packie Bonner from that penosave in Italy 1990

6.Favourite GAA player.

Bernard flynn was my favorite player when I was growing up.

7.What was the best advice given to you as a GAA player.

you have got to work hard on your weakness aswell as your strengths

8.What advice would you give to young GAA players.

listen to your coach and train hard.

9.Who is the Best GAA player you have played with.

Graham Gerarthy one of meaths best ever he could play anywhere.

10.Who is the best soccer player you have played with.

Joseph Ndo, genius with the ball

11.Biggest achievement with St Cuthberts.

winning the championship and going to the feile.

12.Who was the biggest influence on you during your GAA days.

13.Biggest mistakes you see continually made by young GAA footballers.

spending too much time on the computers and not enough on the pitch

14.What did you like most about our club.

I just enjoyed playing football and representing the club.

15.What you dislike most about GAA in the parish.

the breaking up of good teams to go and play with different adult clubs

16.Who in your opinion is the best coach you have played under in the club and why.

Pat Duffy was my coach for St Cuthberts and my teacher and football coach in Kells CS. I learnt a lot from Pat on and off the pitch. Brilliant coach and person

17.What is your best memory of your involvement at the club.

I don't know about my best memory but my earliest one is off me chasing JonnhyCasserly up and down the side begging him to put me on.

18.Any interesting fact you would like to tell us about yourself.

I'm colour blind

19.What is your playing ambition (soccer) for the future.

I hope to win another league with Dundalk and I still dream of playing for Ireland.

20.What do you plan to do after you retire from soccer.

I still dont know but I'm almost finished a degree in Sports Management. So maybe something to do with it

21.Areyou still involved in GAA and if so in what capacity

I am still involved in the Gaa I currently coach the Cavan senior teams goalkeeper.
