Remember: NAU’s CSD 608 start and end dates may be different than yours. Your externship can range from 8-12 weeks, depending on your schedule and the site’s needs. You may need to submit the “Reduced Clinical Rotation Length Petition”. You may not start earlier than the NAU start date, however, you may end later than the NAU end date.

  • Summer 1 orientation – Part 1. Guest speakers, Room 101, 7:30 -10:00.
  • CSD Office provides Summer 1 names to CALIPSO to have their fee waived using Program Fees.

  • Summer 1 orientation – Part 2. Summer Track Coordinator and Office, Room 101, 8:00-9:30.
  • Group picture taken – wear a light colored top.
  • Summer 1 students register in CALIPSO.

  • Summer 2 orientation, 2:00-5:00 pm, Room 320.

  • Summer 3 orientation, 2:30-5:30, Room 320.

  • Email from course instructor to 602 & 608 supervisors to start completing the mid-session performance evaluation in CALIPSO. (one week before due date)

  • CSD 608 mid-session performance evaluation due in CALIPSO.
  • Consider possible need of an Academic Remediation Plan.
  • Consider possible need of a Clinical Performance Plan.

  • Last day of instruction for Summer track Flagstaff Campus Summer Session I.

  • Students starting an Externship in the Summer of next year, should start working on the Registration Checklist. Open enrollment is in February. Some items take up to seven months to complete. Refer to the Registration Checklist with regard to waivers.
  • Email Summer Session I Faculty to return to Summer Track Coordinator the form “Outstanding Summer Track Students”.

  • Last day of instruction for Summer Track Flagstaff Campus Summer Session II.
  • Email Summer Session II Faculty to return to Summer Track Coordinator the form “Outstanding Summers-Only Students”.

  • Recommended date to stop logging hours and start working on submission of end-of-session evaluation and other course requirements for an August conferred degree date. (one week before Instruction ends date)

8/8 /
  • Instruction ends for 602 & 608. (Optional later end date for CSD 608 at discretion of student and instructor)
  • Performance evaluation submitted by supervisor into CALIPSO.
  • Final day to submit end-of-session paperwork for CSD 608 for an August conferred degree. Please do even earlier.

Fall 2017

  • P1 students Register for the Praxis: Aim for an October or November test date. Carefully read the Praxis information in the CSD Graduate Student Handbook. NAU SLP/AUD code is 0012.

  • CSD 602 starts
  • Clinical Practicum 1 students: Both the CSD Comprehensive Exam and the Praxis Review are required by this department for graduation. The Comprehensive Exam will be the final exam for the Praxis Review. Students are allowed to start taking the ETS Praxis Exam after they have successfully completed the CSD Comprehensive Exam and the Praxis Review; both are usually completed during the first week of October. Refer to the CSD 602 class shell in Bb Learn for details.

8/15 /
  • It is now approximately 9 months before Externship. Non-Standard Agreements take 9-12 months to process in the legal department. Plan ahead!

8/28 /
  • Instruction begins for CSD 608 and all other courses.

8/31 /
  • Externship sites should be secured, by the last day of December, if possible!See December 31 entry. Because some sites do not interview until the new year(often late winter, early spring), a few exceptions will exist.

9/1 /
  • During the Fall, start thinking about getting a flu shot if you plan to go on a clinical rotation in the Summer or Fall.

Clinical Practicum 1 students: Register for Clinical Practicum 2. Submit the Information for Practicum/Externship form with the Registration Checklist to the CSD Office. Refer to the Registration Checklist with regard to waivers. Submit all paperwork, at one time, to the CSD Office.

  • Deadline for students graduating in upcoming Spring or Summer to submit their POS to the CSD Office for signatures. Review information on the CSD website pertaining to:

Deadline to register for May or August graduation is December 1st. Application submitted online to the Graduate College. POS must be approved by CSD for graduation application.

Clinical Practicum 2 students will be Externs in the upcoming Summer. You will be registering for CSD 608 and must submit all paperworkto the CSD Office. You will submit the Information for Practicum/Externship form with the Registration Checklist. Refer to the Registration Checklist with regard to waivers. Mail everything to the CSD Office at .
All other students will be registering for their Summer courses.
2/19-3/11 /
  • Early enrollment for Fall courses begins.
You must get pre-approval to take an elective. (Student Resources > forms > Other forms > Request for pre-approval to take an elective form).
Students starting Clinical Practicum 1 in the Fall will submit all paperwork, at one time, to the CSD Office. You will submit the Clinical Practicum Information form with your Registration Checklist. Refer to the Registration Checklist with regard to waivers. Beware: Your Practicum site might not even require an item, but your Externship site may require it. For example, Hepatitis B is a series of 3 shots over a 7 month time period. Pay close attention to waiver eligible items. All we need is an email from the site (your employer) saying that you do not need that item. You will submit that email with your Registration Packet (Clinical Practicum Information form and Registration Checklist) to the CSD Office. Mail your packet to the CSD Office.
