External Line Manager

South Dublin Voluntary Groups CLGis a membership-based Community Employment (CE) company based in Dublin city centre. We operate a large and successful CE scheme in partnership with our members; a coalition of organisations from the community and voluntary sector. Our board of directors, comprised of representatives from our members, take ultimate responsibility for the company, while we employ three full-time staff (Learning & Development Co-ordinators- LDCs) to manage the scheme and contract an external line-manager as further support.

We align ourselves with the two main goals of CE: Supporting the community and voluntary sector through the provision of employees and supporting those employees throughout their placement and encourage their return to the labour market and onward toward their career goals.

Our aim is to work with our members to provide high-quality opportunities and progression routes for Community Employment participants, while supporting the community and voluntary sector.We pride ourselves on fulfilling our motto: ‘For personal and professional development’.

SDVG wish to contract an External Line Manager for their LDC team, to manage all operational issues relating to their work and to support them as employees. This line manager will be responsible to the SDVG Board and will be required to provide a written monthly report to the SDVGchairperson and will also be required to attend board meetings, approximately every 6 weeks, this will be at the discretion of the SDVGBoard.

Funding for this work is guaranteed for six months from the commencement date of this service level agreement.

Learning Development Co-ordinator (LDC) Management Tasks

-To chair and provide leadership at regular SDVG LDC Team Meetings

-To provide individual support and supervision to each LDC

-To problem solve, respond to urgent and longer term operational and governance queries from the LDCs

-Refer governance related queries and issues to the SDVG CLG board

-To oversee all employee related issues:

  • Annual, sick and other leave
  • Training requests
  • Work planning
  • Performance monitoring

-To develop operational and HR related policies as required

-To support and advise LDCs toliaise with DEASP on operational level issues as required

-To report back to the Board on a regular basis on relevant issues

-To assist the Board in complying with the Governance Code and its associated tasks

Line Manager Person Specification

-Strong knowledge of Community Employment(CE) handbook, systems

- and policies

-Strong experience of line managing staff

-Experienced in reporting to Boards/committees

-Excellent communication skills

-Self-starter, accountable, team worker etc.

Ultimate responsibility remains with the Chairperson and the Board who will also

oversee and support all finance and governance related work.

Specific Conditions

  • The individual / organisation are responsible for the payment of all statutory taxes associated with this service level agreement. The board of the SDVG CLGwill in no way be liable for any contractor’s statutory tax obligations.
  • The board of the SDVG CLGwill expect at least four hours work per week to be in relation to the delivery of the contents of this service level agreement . There may be occasions were some work may be carried out off site.
  • The contractor will have to show evidence of insurance and indemnify SDVG CLG.

Budget

The budget for this agreement is €45 per Hour. Maximum of four hours per week.
