Technology and Social Media Committee Guidelines

Constitutional Provision:

The Technology and Social Media Committee shall be responsible for planning, implementing, supporting and stewarding the maintenance ofthe communication technology and social media in and for the church.

Composition of Committee:

The TSM committee will consist of at least five members. Members should serve a minimum term of one year. Efforts will be made to recruit members with skills and experience in various technological and social media areas.

General Responsibilities:

  1. Set standards for technology,website and social media use.
  2. Conduct annual audits of church communication technology equipment and software
  3. Conduct an annual audit of staff communication technology skills.
  4. Regularly evaluate social media efforts and make recommendations for increased effectiveness.
  5. Encourage all age groups (as they are willing and able) to communicate with other members and church leadership via electronic technology and social media.
  6. Utilize technology, social media and our church website to communicate our programs and message to those inside and outside of our congregation.
  7. Assist staff, boards and committees in the use of technology and social media to achieve their goals.
  8. Maintain audiovisual system and train volunteer technicians.
  9. Make budget recommendations for communications technologies, including hardware and software.

Specific Responsibilities:

  1. Chairperson

-prepares an agenda for committee meetings

-presides over committee meetings

-monitors committee and individual responsibilities

  1. Council Representative

-represents committee at monthly council meetings and reports back to the committee

  1. Secretary

-takes notes at committee meetings

-prepares and distributes committee meeting minutes within 1 week after meeting

  1. Communication Technology Equipment and Software Auditor

-annually reviews and itemizes current technologyequipment and presentsa written report to the

committee

  1. Communication TechnologySkills Auditor

-annually reviews and itemizescurrent communication technology skills and presents a written report tocommittee

  1. Social Media Monitor

-regularly reviews our social media efforts and makes recommendations for increasedeffectiveness.

  1. Website Monitor

-regularly reviews website for proper functioning and accuracy of content

  1. Board and Committee Liaison

-communicates with other boards and committees regarding the use of technology and social

media to achieve their committee goals.

9. Audio-Visual Coordinator

-maintains audio-visual system in good working order and trains volunteer technicians as needed.
