Course Description:

This course provides students with an opportunity to study what people wear. Clothing has been worn for centuries and tells a lot about the person’s culture, status, and personal tastes. What people wear influences their work and acts as a major means of communicating with others. Students will gain experiences related to the fashion industry and their own personal fashion style through group and individual projects and classroom activities.

Behavior Expectations:

I truly believe that all discipline problems stem from a lack of mutual respect in the classroom. Respect your classmates, respect our learning environment, respect our faculty and most importantly, respect yourself by using self discipline.

-There will be no food or drink (other than water) allowed in my classroom because of the need to keep our kitchens clean of any visitors.

- Cell phones are not to be on in the classroom. They are distraction to our learning environment. If there is any emergency your students is welcome to use our classroom phone and you are always able to reach your student by calling the main office. Phones will be confiscated after a warning is given. If the phone becomes a problem, it will be given to an administrator and will need to be picked up by a guardian.

-Please keep the Mp3 Players away until you are given permission to use them.

-Treat our classroom computers with respect. We are very lucky to have these resources to use in our classroom.

Homework Expectations

Due to block scheduling, your students will have class time to complete most homework during class time. If your student does not use this time wisely, then it will become homework.

- Homework is due by the next class period and is to be turned into their class folder.

- Please encourage your student to use their planner to keep track of any homework assignments and major projects.

- Students can turn in late work for partial credit if it is during the grading period. Work that is turned in after the grading period will only be given half credit.

- If you student has an excused absence, they will be given 2 class blocks to turn the assignment in for full credit. If you student has an unexcused absence, points will be taken off for late work. Please remember that your student’s grade is directly affected by their attendance so make school their first priority!
