Power Partner Roles and Responsibilities
Power Believers
- Engage Power Achiever in reading and writing, and associated skill development lesson as outlined by Philadelphia READS
- Assist Power Achiever in the weekly completion of their Power Partner Book Passport
- Communicatewith the Power Partners teacher on a weekly basis to stay abreast of necessary skills that need development and to inform them of notable improvements.
- Complete an All About Me form to send to assigned class, prior to the first visit, for Power Achievers
- Participate in a reverse visit, to take place at the assigned Power Partner School
- Participate in a Power Partners Orientation and Training in October
- Participate in a pre, mid, and post program survey, as well as a midpoint and end of the year meeting
(Coordinators Only)
- Coordinate logistics of Power Partner sessions with Philadelphia READS office and/or assigned school teacher
- Recruit volunteers to be Power Believers
- Coordinate the weekly attendance deficiencies with the Power Partner Teachers prior to the Power Hour
Power Partner Teachers
- Provide onsite technical assistance as needed by Power Believers during weekly Power Hour sessions
- Submit Power Achiever reading levels to the Philadelphia READS office according to the following schedule:
- Prior to the first Power Partner visit
- Midyear
- End of the year, prior to the Reverse Visit
- Assist Power Achievers in selecting a new, level appropriate book to their Power Hour session, weekly.
- Assist Power Achievers in completing an All About Me Packet to send to Power Believers by September 30, 2016
- Allow a representative from Philadelphia READS to visit the classroom in the Month of October for 5-10 minutes to discuss the Power Partners program
- Implement behavior management strategies to ensure each Power Hour session is productive and positive
- Ensure that the Power Achiever have weekly, in their red bags:
- 1 Independent Level Book
- 1 Instructional Level Book
- Book Passport
- Serve as a liaison between your school and the Philadelphia READS office, as well as between your school and assigned Power Partner office, when necessary (unexpected school closings, field trips that interfere with weekly Power Hour sessions, absences of Power Achievers, etc.).
- Please note that in addition to coordinating with Power Partner offices, you will need to immediately communicate any cancellations with the Philadelphia READS office
- Serve as a point of contact for assigned weekly bus driver to assist with prompt pick ups and drop offs.
- Please save bus driver phone numbers and keep them on your person on Power Partner days for emergencies
- Participate in a pre, mid, and post program survey, as well as a midpoint and end of the year meeting
- Support the principal of the school in the incentive they choose for book passport completion
- Attend a Power Partner Coach orientation and training meeting in October
- Coordinate Reverse Visit
Power Partner Principals
- Signed the Memorandum of Understanding for respective School
- Provide support for participating teachers
- Support of all requested documents for data (DRA levels, attendance, etc.)
- Attend Appreciation Awards Ceremony
- Host Reverse Visit
