As of May 5, 2014, 40 tornado safe room projects have been approved/completed within 33 school districts for approximately $42,420,950. All of these school safe rooms will be multi-purpose rooms to include auditoriums, weight/wrestling, classrooms, sports complex areas and school activity rooms. The occupancy number is approximately 30,000 for the at-risk population of students, staff, and visitors.
