Post-Graduates(PL 2)Eligibility
Program Application Process:
I. Full admission to the program is contingent uponsubmission of all application
documents/items listed below:
The following items must be submitted/completed PRIOR to enrolling in the first semester of coursework:
_____ Official baccalaureate transcript (showing cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above)
_____ Praxis I or Exemption (___PPST ____ACT/SAT ____Graduate degree & transcript)
(ACT or SAT score reports may be copies—Graduate degree transcript must be an
official transcript)
_____ Letter verifying admission to TU School of Continuing Studies
_____ Transcript review & initial advising appointment
_____ Registration in appropriate course(s)--usually EDLA 2000/ EDUC 3250
_____Two letters of reference
The following items must be completed at the end of the first semester of coursework:
_____ Submission of Level 1 E-Folio with evaluation of “satisfactory” or higher
_____ Completion of EDLA 2000/EDUC 3250 with minimum grade of “C”
_____Verification of background check (e.g. NOPD, LA State Police, or other)
The following items must be completed NO LATER than the end of the second semester of coursework to complete the admission process:
_____ Passing score reports for Praxis II content exam(s)

_____EDUC 3400/EDUC 3260( as necessary) (or other initial program coursework depending
on credits transferred) with minimum EDUC GPA of 3.0
_____Completion of 80 contact hours of focused field experience (usually EDUC 3250 and EDUC 3260)(Candidates who are currently teaching full-time may be exempted from
EDUC 3260 but will need to provide documentation from the principal verifying
employment.)
III. After a PL 2 candidate has achieved full admission to the program, a letter and completion plan verifying this can be provided for the employing authority as necessary. It is the responsibility of the candidate to maintain program enrollment and complete the necessary program assessment requirements. See the TPCP Program Handbook for additional information.
According to LA certification guidelines (SED Bulletin #746), the PL 2 license is applied for by the employing authority(after verification from the teacher certification program) and can be renewed annually for up to a period of three years. Teachers under a PL 2 license are expected to complete a minimum of NINE hours of program coursework annually. Satisfactory progression through courses & program assessment levels will be reviewed annually before the renewal letter is prepared.
