General Requirements

Good attendance, commitment, and proper classroom participation are expected and will be rewarded. Students are expected to arrive to class on time and be seated when the bell rings. Students are also expected to be prepared for class, as well as participate in classroom discussions and activities. In addition, students are expected to maintain work in an orderly fashion.

Preparation

There is a direct correlation between being prepared for class and succeeding in class. All students are expected to bring the necessary supplies to each class session, including textbooks notebooks and writing utensils. Any student not prepared for class will not be able to participate in the activities going on which will result in a loss of points.

Conduct

ALL SCHOOL RULES APPLY IN THIS CLASS. Any deviation from them will result in consequences such as point reduction, detention, anecdotal, calls to parent/guardians, suspension, etc.

Grading

Final grades are determined by:

  1. Quality and quantity of class work and homework completed
  2. Attendance
  3. Test and quiz grades
  4. Business plan
  5. Participation

All assignments are due by the specified due date. No late work will be accepted, unless you are absent, in which case the assignments due the next day you return to class. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to find out what assignments you have missed, at which time you will still be responsible for completing the work by a specified due date determined by me. All test and quizzes must be made up outside of class time during enrichment period, or by appointment. Also, in an effort to promote exemplary workmanship, students will be allowed to redo assignments, at the instructor’s discretion.

The grading scale is as follows:

COURSE EXPECTATIONS

In addition to following all District 205 Student Guidelines, students should also:

1.  Properly display your ID at all times.

2.  Be in the classroom and in assigned seats when the bell rings.

3.  Be absolutely quiet and attentive during the daily announcements.

4.  Come prepared with class materials.

5.  Be quiet and attentive when your teacher is talking to the class.

6.  Be courteous and respectful to the teacher and students in the class.

7.  Attend all classes daily.

8.  Complete all homework, both reading and writing assignments.

9.  Do not request passes. Such requests are rarely honored.

10.  Do not bring food or drink into the classroom.

Consequences

1st offense- Student will receive a detention.

2nd offense-Student will receive a detention and a parent/guardian will be contacted.

3rd offense- Student will receive a referral to the Dean and a parent/guardian will be contacted.

*Any severe act against classroom and/or school rules results in an immediate referral*

MARKETING

COMPUTER LAB RULES/STUDENTS

1.  Students will leave all food, candy, chew gum, and/or drink outside of the computer lab.

2.  Software programs/data disks (such as CDs, DVDs, FLASH/ JUMP DRIVES) brought by students are NOT permitted into the lab.

3.  Students are not at anytime to download and install any program, game, and/or change any configuration to the Thornridge computers. They are NOT to place any shortcut or screensavers to the computer.

4.  Use your assigned computer only and follow proper procedures for using hardware/software.

5.  Contact your teacher or supervision monitor immediately, whenever you have hardware or software problems.

6.  Internet (World Wide Web) use:

a.  Students are NOT to use the Internet for personal reasons. This means:

x  No entering chat rooms.

x  No Internet games.

x  No accessing inappropriate web sites. (i.e. MySpace, Facebook, Tag, Bebo),This includes and web sites that display nudity, profanity, or inappropriate attire.

7.  Students are not to move or abuse the software/hardware, the chairs, and/or tables in the lab. If so, you will be subject to the disciplinary procedure and are liable for damages. Remember, the chairs, tables, and all computer software/hardware are considered school property.

8.  Before you leave the lab, log off, clean up your work area, and push in your chair.

MARKETING

CLASSROOM ASSIGNMENT POLICIES

1.  All students are responsible for completing each assignment. Assignments that are computer related should be saved on the student’s H:\ drive. Any computer assignments saved somewhere else beside the H:\drive will NOT receive credit. NO EXCUSES!

2.  ALL assignments must be turned in on the date they are assigned. Late assignments may receive half credit and will continue to decrease in credit every day it is late. If you forget to turn in an assignment, it is considered late and will be only given half credit. NO EXCUSES!

3.  All assignments may be made up within two days if missed due to an absence. NO EXCUSES!

4.  When a student must be absent from class, it the student’s responsibility to make up for the time missed to avoid falling behind in class.

5.  Ethics: Each student must submit his/her own work. If a student is found copying another student’s work, both will receive no credit for the assignment and may be referred to his/her Dean. NO EXCUSES!

MATERIALS CHECKLIST

To help ensure your success in this class, you will need a few essential materials for class EVERYDAY.

1.  At least 2 pens/pencils. (An extra just in case). Only black/blue colored ink pens are accepted. EVERY DAY YOU WILL BE WRITING.

2.  Marketing textbook and Binder (This will be provided for you by the teacher. If I give you something keep it available and use it. I will conduct a periodic binder check for points. If you do not bring yours to class for whatever reason, you will not receive points.

3.  Paper (loose leaf or notebook). EVERY DAY YOU WILL BE WRITING. Not only will be taking lots of notes, you will also be required to keep a daily journal.

Students who do not have the required materials along with a Thornridge I.D. with them every day will NOT be able to enter the classroom. When the student(s) enter the classroom and are late due to lack of materials they are TARDY.

Note: Students need to take care of handling (i.e. sharpening pencils) and bringing materials BEFORE class begins!
