Advanced Placement Notice to Parentsand Students

To: Parents/Guardians

Your child is currently enrolled to take one or more of the Advanced Placement classes Woodford County High School offers. It is a requirement of the course that your student sits for the College Board Advanced Placement Exam in May. The 2014-2015 exam fees are $96.00 per exam. We realize that AP Exams can be costly for families and want you to be aware of the cost of the exam(s) for the class(es) that your child is taking.Historically, WCHS had received some additional funding for financial assistance to AP examinees but the grant that afforded that assistance is no longer available. We wanted to make you aware of these fees as soon as possible after the College Board announced a formal price increase in 2014.

WCHS is continuing its relationship with Total Registration this year which allows families the flexibility of starting payment towards AP fees immediately. Our site can be found at https://user.totalregistration.net/AP/182602. The online services allows you to pay for each exam at once or to begin paying for exams one at a time until the required deadline of March 6, 2015

Below are fee examples and how you can use the WCHS Total Registration site

Student 1 is enrolled in three AP courses so will have AP fees of $288 ($96 per exam) due in the spring. Family of Student 1 can pay the entire fee in March 2015 or can space out fees and pay $96 in November, $96 in December, and $96 in January using the Total Registration site. In order to do this, please only register for one exam at a time. You will then log back into your student’s account and add other exams as you wish to pay for them.

Student 2 is enrolled in 4 AP courses and also has a sibling enrolled in 2 AP courses. The total fee for these two students would be $576 ($96 per exam). Again, the family of these students could wait and pay the $576 fees in March 2015 or could pay for an exam or two each month (October, November, December, January, and February) until the deadline allowing some additional flexibility with expenses. Again, in order to pay for one exam at a time, you must register for one exam and then add each additional exam to your child’s account.

Please take a look at your son or daughter’s schedule so you can calculate the costs of their AP exam fees for the 2014-2015 school year or contact your Guidance Counselor if you need assistance locating that information.
