6) BRIEF RESUME OF INTENDED WORK:

6.1 NEED FOR THE STUDY:

Amlapitta is a very common problem in day today life of the modern and urban cities where the people are commonly suffering due to changed life style which affects almost 25% people each year.

Viruddha, Dusta, Amla, Vidahi, Pittaprokopaka Ahara - Viharas are the causative factors in precipitating the disease Amlapitta.2 Avipaka, Klama, Utklesha, Tikta-Amlodgara, Gaurava, Hritakanthadaha, Aruchi is a chief symptoms of Amlapitta,3 explained under Annavah srotos Vikar.

It is burning problem in society as proper medicament is not available for it. The food articles which are not according to normal code and conduct creates gastric peptic disorders. Medication from modern system gives symptomatic relief for short period and a repeated long term use of drugs is found to cause serious side effects. Ayurveda has alot to offer in this regard. Virechana is one among the samsodhan chikitsa indicated in pitta dosha pradhana vyadhi4 which is indicated by almost all the acharyas for its effective management in Amlapitta.5Triphala kwatha yoga6 and Amalaki kwatha yoga7 are selected for Virechana in Amlapitta.

This work is intended to study and compare the efficacy of Virechana karma with Triphala and Amalaki Kwatha yoga in Amlapitta.

6.2  REVIEW OF LITERATURE:

A thorough screening of classical texts like Kashyapa samhita, Madhava nidan,

Yogaratnakar,Vangasenasamhita,Bhaishajyaratnawali,Chakradutta,Contemporary texts,Websites will be reviewed for Nidan, Samprapti, Lakshanas, Chikitsa and

documented for the present study.

·  Nidan, Samprapti, Lakshana, Bheda, Chikitsa elaborately discussed in Kashyapa samhita- 16th Chapter.1

·  Nidana samprapti of the Amlapitta is mentioned in Madhava nidan 51/1.2

·  Lakshana of Amlapitta is mentioned in Madhava nidan 51/2.3

·  Indication of Virechana karma in pitta dosha pradhana vyadhi is mentioned in Charaka samhita sutrasthana 25/40.4

·  Indication of Virechana karma in Amlapitta vyadhi is mentioned in Yogaratnakar Uttarardha, Amlapittasya chikitsa – 2.5

·  Indication of Triphala kwatha Virechana yoga is mentioned in Yogaratnakar Uttarardha, Amlapittasya chikitsa – 1 .6

·  Indication of Amalaki kwatha Virechana yoga is mentioned in Bhaishajya ratnavali Amlapitta chikitsa prakarana – 4 .7

·  Pippali ghrita is explained Bhaishajyaratnavali Amlapitta chikitsa prakaran- 18,8 and Vangasena samhita Amlapitta chikitsa 62/44.9

6.4 HYPOTHESIS :

H0- There is neither effect of Triphala kwatha yoga Virechana nor

Amalaki kwatha yoga Virechana in Amlapitta.

H1- There is significant effect of Triphala kwatha yoga Virechana in Amlapitta.

H2- There is significant effect of Amalaki kwatha yoga Virechana in Amlapitta.

6.5 AIMS AND OBJECTIVES:

1.To study in detail about Amlapitta.

2.To evaluate the efficacy of Arohana krama Snehapana with Pippali ghrita

3.To study Virechana karma in detail.

4.To evaluate the efficacy of Triphala kwatha yoga Virechana in Amlapitta

5.To evaluate the efficacy of Amalaki kwatha yoga Virechana in Amlapitta.

6.To compare and assertain the effect of Triphala kwatha yoga and Amalaki

kwatha yoga Virechana in amlapitta.

7.MATERIALS AND METHODS :

7.1 SOURCES OF DATA :

LITERARY SOURCE:

·  Classical texts.

·  Related sources of data from the websites.

·  Published articles from Periodicals, Journals and other magazines and modern text books.

DRUG SOURCE:

The drug will be selected from local areas & market after prope

identification and required medicines will be preapared in S.S.R.A.M.C.

Pharmacy Inchal.

SAMPLE SOURCE:

Patients of Amlapitta fullfilling diagnostic and inclusion criteria will

be selected from OPD & IPD,P.G. Department of Panchkarma of Shri Shiva

Yogeeshwar Rural Ayurvedic Medical College & Hospital,Inchal.

7.2 METHOD OF COLLECTION OF DATA:

A minimum of 30 patients fulfilling diagnostic and inclusion criteria of either sex will be taken for study and divided into two equal groups of 15 patients in each group.

STUDY DESIGN: A comparative clinical study.

DIAGNOSTIC CRITERIA:

·  Avipaka

·  Klama

·  Utklesha

·  Tikta-Amlodgara

·  Gaurava

·  Hritakanthadaha

·  Aruchi

INCLUSION CRITERIA:

1.  Patients between the age group of 16-60 years.

2.  Patients fullfiling the diagnostic criteria irrespective of sex, religion, occupation.

3.  Patients fit for Virechan karma.

EXCLUSION CRITERIA:

1.  Patients below 16 and above 60 years.

2.  Patients suffering with other systemic illness Annadrava shula, Parinam shula, Gastric ulcer which interfere with the course of treatment.

3.  Patients unfit for Virechana karma.

PROCEDURE:

·  Before the commencement of the treatment kostha will be assessed by giving milk.

·  Deepana-Pachana will be done till Nirama lakshana.
