Photographs capture life’s special moments and allow us to relive those times just by looking at them. A photo can elevate an ordinary object to Art. Photographs record our family history and illustrate our club newsletters and events. There’s the joy of snapping at just the right moment and the thrill of planning and waiting for just the right shot. The GFWC Photography Contest is a wonderful opportunity to share your view of the world.

Entries are submitted at the CFWC Convention in May; winning photos are sent to GFWC by this chairman [and are not returned]. There are 2 contests at convention - The World in Pictures and Volunteers in Action. Each District may submit one item in color and one item in black&whitefor the World in Pictures in each Category and each club may submit one entry for Volunteers in Action. *A NOTE ABOUT PHOTO MOUNTING:

Rigid mount board may be found at places such as Michael’s and Aaron Brothers; usually a lightweight foam-type board which must be cut to fit [average cost $16],. Acid-free spray adhesive is also available at these stores [average cost $8.50].

An acceptable alternative is printing directly onto lightweight board/ cardstock. My local UPS Store does this for about $2, plus there is a fold-out easel backing, which is helpful during display of photos so additional display holders are not needed.
