I wanted to talk you through it building up . because looking at it complete it seems impossible to have worked so much Out .
I became ill in summer 08 and had no idea it was mast cell/ allergies/ reactions . I was diagnosed with gastritis after 3 weeks of retching .I was short of breath on exertion and after showers (inhaling product fumes ) . had a day were I had a salad –with salad cream –which I wasn’t aware of as a worry- I went very very dizzy and nearly collapsed . I only just made it home
I had my first reaction – anaphylaxis December 5th . From this point I began kind of watching what I was eating. Not being careful though.I convinced myself it was a one off
After my 4th in febuaury I began really watching. I had also had many minors by now .I wrote things down in my diary . I transcribed these .This is list one . the timings and descriptions are as they are from my diary .

Part 1
History of anaphylaxis and allergic reactions - Josie Evans
5th dec 2008:-
Eating pizza , garlic bread , drinking rose wine
Flushed bright red face , torso, pulse raced ,went dizzy , lips swelled , ears popping , wheezy
19:00 Self presented to A&E
Resus :- angioodema , stridor, tachycardia ( heart 180 )
1ml 1/1000 epinephrine IM , piriton 10mg, Hydrocortisone 200mg IV.
Discharged 23:00.
Steroids 10mg one week
SUSPECT - SULPHITES , Alcohol ,
26th December : -ate
Felt hot flushed , itchy. Was drinking fizzy drink , containing sulphites.
27th December :- 19:30
Drinking Magners
Felt burning hot , burning. Face swelling , red , heart rate racing , chest tight
Piriton 8 mg , salb inhaler.
Epipen IM 0.3 ml ( 1/1000)
Paramedics :- O2 , became wheezy again and throat tight ,20:15 :- 0.5 (1/1000) IM epinephrine , neb 10mg salbauamol , Hi flo o2
A&E - prednisalone 40mg po , IVI
Discharged :- 03:00
Steriods 40mg I week.
SUSPECT - SULPHITES , Alochol , Vinigar as had salad with dressing 2 hrs earlier.
30th December -
Half hour after finishing big mac meal , felt hot , flushed , itchy face and body. Voice dropped .
Piriton taken 16.20. Settled by 18:00
SUSPECT - MCDONALDS MEAL ( allegedly sulphite free )
31st Dec
22:00 felt hot , flushed , cheeks puffy. 4mg piriton taken.
22:30 :- itchy , hot , spacey , struggling to stay awake.
22:45 ;- spacey , flushed
23:00 :- settling itching stopped. No longer hot.
SUSPECT - SULPHITE - ICELAND SAUSAGE ROLL
You can see I had several reactions by now. Some to anaphylaxis and some had symptoms but didn’t go all the way
4th Jan :- 19:30
Piriton 4 mg , steriods 30 mg 14;00
Nose itch, throat tight , chest wheezy , feeling extremely hot , cold clammy to touch
Piriton 4mg , salbatomal inhaler .
A&E - 20;30 salbatamol neb
Discharged ;-- 22:00
5Th Jan
17:00 -Piriton , 17:30 hot +++, salbatamol neb as wheezy . Settled
MN :- awoke feeling very hot , took piriton, lips felt big , went back to sleep
2;30 :- awoke boiling hot , lips itchy , piriton 4 mg taken. Chest tight.
3:00 :- chest very tight , wheezy , nebuliser , salbutamol 5 mg taken.
3:30 :- lips still bit itchy mouth itchy at back and throat feels tight , mouth breathing.
03:40 :- throat very tight , wheezy , Epipen 0.3 ml (1/1000) given with effect, Retching.
03:50 :- ambulance crew - into a&e .
Observed - untill 7am , no complications.
NO IDEA
On reducing doses of prednisalone at GPs request.. Last dose Jan 18th.
12th feb -
New envirionment - no cats.
Just been to bathroom
22:00 :- itchy mouth , body, tight throat wheezy. Piriton 4mg
22:20 :- still itchy , wheeze gone , throat better.
SUSPECT BATHROOM CLEANER
Likley bathroom cleaner
14th February
Ate fish , chips , 7up x 2 , ice cream
As finishing 19:00 :- Sweaty hot , shivery :- piriton 4mg
Returned to car :- wheezy :- Inhaler 1930
19 40 - strong wheeze , stridor , throat closing - EPIPEN 0.3 (1/1000).
Paramedics :- Neb 5mg . Hi flow 02.
Discharged :- 23:00
SUSPECT - VINIGAR , CLEANING PRODUCTS. STONE DUST
Likley –vinigar and corn flour in fish batter , sulphites in fizzy drink , emotional stress +++++++
18th March 22:10
Emptied drier fluff , just used kitchen cleaner
Eyes nose and mouth itchy , wheezy +++, could not speak
Anaphylaxis -rr40 , Epipen x1
Settled within 10 mins
Paramedics :- hi flo O2
SUSPECT - KITCHEN CLEANER
Likley – corn flour and caramel colour in gravy on meal
19th March
17:30 pale , shivery, dry mouth , tight throat , piriton
Similar episodes 20th , 21st , 22nd march.
I was away from my home so ? change of routine. One happened in a store with perfumes
29th March
12ish - cleaning bathroom with bathroom cleaner.
Itchy mouth and throat , went pale , shaky .
12:15 took piriton .
12:30 wheezy and still itchy .
12:45 settled , went to sleep .

I moved into a new home on the 30th . The red is what I now think set me off.I hadn’t documented many of these things at the time. This was me thinking I knew the full answer and found it in every encounter .
2nd April
Just been to toilet
23:00 :- numb left side of face.
23;30 :- spacey , pale , nose blocked, all over itchy ness , red chest.
MN ;- PIRITON 4MG
As wheezy and mouth itchy.
00:30 wheeze and itching settled.
Now - meds with corn flour being digested when my staomch emptied causinga reaction and traveling histamine
8th April
:- pork chop , broccoli , carrots , new potatoes , gravy.
18:30 - pale sweaty. 19:15 Rash arms progressed , itchy face and head
20;15 - face puffy , itchy ;- presented A&E
21:45 - piriton 10mg , hydrocortisone 200mg
23;00 - face itchy and mouth - settled
00:30 - discharged, Prednisalone 40 mg 1 week
Likley-the gravy
15th April :-
settling for bed . Had eaten spag bol - dolmio , crisp and dry oil , onions , mince , mushrooms. Small portion 1 hr before.
00.00 - wheezy itchy - Piriton 4mg
0030 - rashy arms , dizzy , shivery, extremely itchy face and eyes .
0050 - wheezy , stridor , EPIPEN 0.3 ( 1/1000)
Paramedics :- H hydrocortisone 200mg, ho flo o2 ; - In van :- wheeze and stridor returned - throat closing 0.5 (1/1000) epinephrine IM.Hi FLO O2
A&E - O2 , 07:00 itchy face and lips ++ lips swelling . 10 mg IVPiriton .
40 mg prednisalone
Discharged 13;00, prednisalone 40mg I week
SUSPECT - VINIGER - dolmio . , Vegetable oil , Cleaning materials - as in a pub . Cats - had dropped them off the day before. BUT had travelled with them and handled them.
Likley change of routine as we were away and the cats with other minors adding in
21st April
20:50 :- chest and back flushed, face , head and back itchy
21:00 :- lips and face itchy

21:15 - piriton in 18:00

Settled spontaneously at 22:00.

22nd April
Soreen malt loaf and butter 30 mins before.
21:00 hot sweaty , rashy arms , pale light headed - piriton 4mg
22:00 Wheezy in top of chest , swollen face and lips . 22 :07 pale shaky , lips and face itchy , 22 :21 tongue itchy , struggling to keep eyes open . Paramedics ;- 02
A&E - hydrocortisone 200mg , piriton 10mg -22;30 , 0200 :- wheeze +stridor :- neb 5mg salbutamol . Self administered EPIPEN 0.3 (1/1000). 06:00 face and mouth itchy ++++ piriton 10mg IV.

24th April
Bowl of malt cereal , with milk , sugar and bannana.
13:15 - hot sweaty , rashy arms , -Piriton 4mg. Mouth and face
13:30 - wheezy , stridor , throat closing EPIPEN 0.3
Paramedics :- hi flo O2 ,
Resus :- Piriton 10mg IV , Hydrocortisone 100mg IV , salbutamol neb , Epinephrine 1ml neb .
1700 - Wheezy , itchy lips :- salbatamol neb , 100 hydrocortisone IV .
21:30 itchy face and lips piriton 10mg IV.
0230 - itchy lips and back of throat , wheezy ;- hydrocortisone 100mg IV.
0400 :- wheezy , stridor , throat closing - salbuatamol nabuliser. Regular nebs
3 week inpatient admission
SUSPECT - MALT + snowball reaction continuing
In hospital for 3 weeks - Daily reactions at various levels . None requiring epinephrine but inc itchy face , lips front and back of mouth , flushing of face and torso and arms , retching, deepening voice and trouble swallowing saliva. Episodes of wheeze controlled by salbutamol nebulisers PRN . Citrizine 10mg od added with moderate effect.
Very reactive after CT with contrast .
SUSPECT - vinigar , malt in sandwiches
1st June
19:00 - sweaty , pale , itchy - piriton
19:45 - full wheeze , stridor - EPIPEN 0.3
Paramedics :- hi flo O2
A&E - piriton 10 mg IV , Hydrocortisone 200mg - 2300
Nebuliser 5mg salbutamol
03:00 settled on a ward
Discharged mane . Prednisalone 40 mg 5 days

Thurs 11th June
21;15 :- face and mouth itchy , arms flushed
21:20 ;- wheezy , tongue itchy
21.21 :- EPIPEN 0.3 (1/1000) .
21:30 ;- paramedics :- hi flo O2. Nebuliser 5mg
A&E :- 22:00 - lips itchy , body itchy . Tongue swollen , Hi flo O2. Sweaty , cold peripheries., bright red face /arms , Epinephrine 1ml (1 /1000) extremely shaky , burning hot / very cold . Sweaty . Multiple cannulation attempts .
Finally neocath ( babay cannula ) 23:00 piriton 10mg IV , Hydrocortisone 200mg IV.
05:00 piriton 4mg po as itchy mouth and face .
Discharged - 10 am
Likley sulphites popcorn and paint fumes
From march onwards- I text myself as symptoms were happening unless I needed to make a999 call .This helped me see patterns of symptoms
On the 15th of June I went see my first spealcist.i wanted him to look but it was on my laptop and I couldn’t open it there because the battery had gone .
At this point I was convinced sulphites were my only trigger. This is what I mean about not ignoring symptoms . I did not know what all the symptoms were .I also thought some stuff was just me .
Looking back now – In red - I know what my triggers are on most of these reactions now .

27th dec –change of routine +sulphites
New yrs eve – sausage roll ( appreared on a website )

23:20 - lips and mouth tingly , tounge itchy
23:25 - mouth itchy and tip of tounge
23:30 - toat tight , feeling hot

23:45 - skin arms itchy , chest

13:20 - Citirizine 10mg , itchy ears and torso alongside face and lips

15:10 - itching face , lips and body - legs and torso . In a taxi travelling through Sussex between pevensey and Bexhill

16:30 - settled
18:00 cat hair on skin , local redness
22:15 - itchy mouth and face
22:30 - settled spontaneously

13:30 - itchy throat - nice and spicy nick nacks
14:00 - Prednisalone 30mg and citirizine 10mg
21:20 - itchy mouth and throat . Itchy hair and ears - mars bar , cup of tea
21:36 - itchy mouth and throat and hair
21:40 - nose blocked , itchy arms , mouth and nose itchy. Top lip feels big . Pins and needles peri anal .

23:35 :- Sweaty face , tingling head. Tounge down . Itching started again :- back , head , lips , nose face
Hair, back of throat. 23:40 struggling to keep eyes open , voice deepening , itchy nose shoulders. Feel spacey . Ears popping . Face itchy.
