The meeting began at 3:30 p.m. and ended at 4:00 p.m.

  1. Direction 1: Safe and Supportive Learning Environments – Mr. Rendon
  2. Updates on school safety
  3. National Bus Safety Week – Thank you SISD bus drivers and transportation personnel for your hard work and dedication
  4. Safety Inspection issues to be aware of: do not use Glade Plug-ins. They can burn when the oil has been used up. Use surge protectors instead of extension cords.
  5. OLWEUS survey – November 2015
  6. Direction 2: College and Career Readiness - Counselors
  7. Mr. Joosse had a great turnout for Parent Night for 8th graders ; at least 80%
  8. 55 8th grades will take the PSAT in November. This includes AVID students
  9. Direction 3: Highly Qualified, Effective Faculty and Staff
  10. Mrs. Lozano, EPAC rep. reported that the meeting will take place this Thursday.
  11. Direction 4: Home, Community Partnerships – Mrs. Luna
  12. Attendance Update - The 1st 9 weeks attendance was very good. 6th grade 98.39%, 7th 97.46%, and 8th 97.75%
  13. 193 students – Perfect Attendance award for 1st 9 weeks
  14. Ms. Tidwell commented on the importance of encouraging students to be here every day. Missing school puts them behind and it’s hard to catch up.
  15. Fall Festival- tickets for the festival (10/23) will be on sale tonight during Student- Led Conferences, 15 tickets for $10.00. Festival night tickets will be $1.00 ea.
  16. Direction 5: Accountability for All – Ms. Tidwell
  17. Principal resignation and Replacement Procedures – meeting for teachers will take place on Monday, October 26 @ 3:30 in the library. All teachers are welcome. A meeting for parents will be held at 5:30 the same evening.
  18. STAAR changes for 2016- there will be a 2 question increase overall and the Writing test Spring 2016 will be expository only.
  19. Closing comments: Melissa Trejo reported that each campus has an instructional trainer who is willing to help teachers implement new technology in classroom instruction. Puentes’ trainer is Denisa Morales.
