Europe’s biggest winter sports people’s choice award goes to the SkiWelt

No fewer than 52,000 skiers voted: the SkiWelt is the most popular ski resort in the Alps

A massive 52,000 skiers have had their say: the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental has been voted the most popular ski resort in the Alps and so is now"Top Ski Resort 2015". This is what Snowplaza, the international ski portal, discovered in a Europe-wide survey of the major wintersports nations.

The SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser-Brixental has already won several awards. But this people’s choice award by the Snowplaza ski portal is very highly regarded. The decision wasn’t reached by a panel of experts or a complicated points system. It was made by the very skiers, who are out and about on the European ski slopes day after day. On the Snowplaza website, winter sports fans can choose from no fewer than 600 destinations throughout Europe and then vote for their favourite online.

Participants put the SkiWelt in pole position for a whole host of factors: “The vast range of pistes, the countless ski huts and attractions for families”, but also the “impressive backdrop of the Wilder Kaiser”. But above all else it was the many amenities which make winter sports so much fun. "Over 70 mountain huts for refreshments, three fun parks, a funslope area, a ski movie section and an ‘alpeniglu’ village”.

As far as the SkiWelt is concerned, this award, chosen by the skiers themselves, is not only a great accolade after all the good work of the last few years, but also an incentive to improve year on year and to build yet further on this leading position.

Snowplaza is one of Europe’s leading information portals for skiing holidays. And that includes ski resort data, information on accommodation, snow levels and reviews. The results of the vote for the "most popular ski resort in the Alps" can now be viewed at

With 90 cable cars and lifts, 280 kilometres of ski slopes to suit all abilities – almost all with modern snowmaking equipment (of 245 kilometres of slopes with snowmaking, 120 kilometres can be made ski-fit in just 3 days) and 76 huts – SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental is the largest interconnected ski area in Austria.
