  • Respectful – Treat others with respect at all times.
  • Resourceful – If in doubt, look it up – most questions can be answered by looking at your notes.

Consequences for not abiding by the above expectations include student-teacher conference, parental contact, detention, and/or office referral.

Required Materials: Notebook of your preference, notebook paper, pencils (recommended to have more than one), and calculator [TI-30 XSmulti-view]. You must get this particular calculator (you’ll see why).

Assignments: Every assignment that you submit should include:

  • Your name
  • Date & Period
  • Textbook page numbers
  • Problems will be copied and work will be shown.

Homework: Completing homework will be a necessity to this course. Stay on top of assignments and seek help with those that are difficult to you. Incomplete homework will decrease understanding, penalize daily grades, and penalize test grades. Late work assignments will only be accepted following an absence from class (see below) or while serving an academic detention.

Make-up Work Policy: You are responsible for all work missed when you are absent. Upon your return to class, you are responsible for getting all missed assignments and submitting them within three school days of the original due date. It is s your responsibility to get your make up work on your return to class. Failure to submit missing work may result in being assigned an academic detention.

Absences: Students who miss more than 10 minutes of any class will be counted absent from that class. Students who are absent from school should bring a written, signed excuse from a parent/guardian on their first day back to school. After 5 unexcused absences parents will be contacted for a meeting with the school’s attendance officer. Additional absences may result in required attendance at Saturday School.

Work Ethic

Your most important priority at this time in your life needs to be getting a good education. Your freshman year is a critical time in your educational process. Please know that I have high expectations for eachof you. I know that each of you CAN do Algebra. You CAN learn the concepts. For some of you it will come easily. For some of you it will not. Your success will depend on your dedication and determination. It is true that… Where there is a will, there is a way…. If you want to be successful and if you do the work required to be successful, you will be successful.

Tutoring: Tutoring is available so please take advantage of this as often as needed. Ms. Lamb will offer tutoring on Thursdays after school until 4:30. You must be picked up by 4:30. If you are unable to attend tutoring at the scheduled time please see Ms. Lamb to arrange another time.

Academic Dishonesty:Cheating of any kind will not be tolerated and will result in a ZERO and/or consequences (detention, parent contact, office referral). Allowing another student to copy your work or your answers is an example of academic dishonesty and will be dealt with accordingly.
