Well the first few weeks really flew by! We are continuing to work on class routines and rules, and are making new friends! We will be working on the letter Mm and the sight word “I” this week. We will also be: writing and practicing the sound of the letter Mm, making a book with the word “I”, counting and graphing M & M’s, continuing our chapter on numbers 1 to 5, and taking our first math test on Friday. Please practice recognizing our new sight word, the letter Mm and the sound it makes.

Homework this week will be: writing Mm and our sight word “I” and writing numbers 0-5. I. It will come home on Monday. You will also receive a book called My Shared Reading. Please complete pages 6-7.You may do pages 4-5 if you would like to. Please continue to read 15 minutes each night & document your reading for the Principal’s Reading Club. The form is on the school web site (the date may not be current, but it doesn’t matter because a total number of minutes are all we need.)

We love to have volunteers help with our Book Fair (It’s ok if you are not a level 2 yet) Friday 8/26 AM – 9-9:30 PM – 1-1:30

Reminders: --Please return your Kindergarten Information Sheet as we will be setting up our volunteers to begin working in the classroom. – We will start with parent volunteers in mid/late September.

Our first field trip is on 9/22. We will be going to High Hill Ranch in Apple Hill. Remember if you even want to attend any fieldtrip and/or volunteer in the class you must have a level 2 clearance.

Bahry Boogie is a dance routine that our class will do with Mrs. Bahry. Kindergarten is scheduled from 10:25 – 10:45 in the Multi. If your pm kindergartener would like to attend, please sign them in at the office & drop them off in the multi. Parents are not to stay with their child, the teachers will supervise them. They will have an extra recess with the am class for a few minutes after the dancing. Please let us know in advance if your child plans to attend.

Thanks to all of you who have donated school supplies! We have not started using the computers yet, but please make sure to send in headphones/earbuds for your child. They need to be in a Ziploc labeled with their name.
