Dance Team Expectations
There are some important things to consider when deciding to try out. Please read this paper carefully before signing.
1. DANCE TEAM SEASON RUNS ALL YEAR.
May – Tryouts
June – July Practices -YOUR DAUGHTER MUST ATTEND IF SHE MAKES THE SQUAD AND WANTS TO STAY ON THE SQUAD THERE WILL BE NO EXCEPTIONS
August – October – practices will be twice a week and continue through January and Football performances.
November – February – Basketball season performances and practices.
Please be aware of the commitment it requires.
2. DANCE TEAM MEMBERS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THEIR OWN ATTIRE AND CAMP. Costs may include: (All prices are approximate. Please do not let this deter you from tryouts, we are working on ways to make the price more affordable.) 5 Monthly payments from May-September 30th are $71.20 a month. This price includes two uniforms, dance shoes, practice wear, bows, poms, and warm-ups.
3. DANCE TEAM MEMBERS ARE EXPECTED TO ATTEND ALL GAMES, PRACTICES AND OTHER TEAM ACTIVITIES.
Practices will be held twice a week. Usually Mondays and Thursdays from 230-430 pm. Games are usually over by 8:30pm and dance team members are expected to sit with the team, not with other friends. If any practice or game is missed due to illness or death in family, a phone call to the coach ahead of time is required.
4. DANCE TEAM MEMBERS MUST MAINTAIN A GPA OF 2.0
Coaches check grades every quarter. Grades of “D” or “F” and citizenship grades of “4” and “5” will result in loss of performance and possible suspension from the squad.
5. DANCE TEAM MEMBERS MUST FOLLOW ALL RULES OF THE SCHOOL AND COACH, BOTH IN AND OUT OF SCHOOL.
A consequence system is used to keep track of infractions. Consequences will consist of running and or being bench from performances
6. DANCE TEAM MEMBERS MUST HAVE A CURRENT PHYSICAL.
A physical received this school year if fine for tryouts. If you make the team, a new physical will be needed before you can practice the rest of the year. This would be valid for the whole school year. If you are getting a physical for tryouts, it is valid for the following school year.
