Huntingdonshire Patient Congress 1 July 2014
Anti Coagulation Clinics
At present there are 5 practices in the area which provide same day anti coagulation testing. All practices in Hunts are now being given the opportunity to provide this service. So far 11 more practices have expressed an interest.
Expanding the service will relive pressure on Hinchingbrooke Hospital as well as making it more convenient for patients to attend locally.
The group raised concerns about adequate parking at local practices and suggested that self testing should be considered in some cases.
Future of Congress
As the Oak Tree Centre are to introduce charges for the meeting room it was decided that a more central meeting place should be used if the price was the same. It was decided to hold future meetings at Pathfinder House in Huntingdon. Meeting times changed to 6.30 to 8.30 to avoid parking charges. Unnecessary expense on refreshments would also be stopped.
Feedback from Members
The Older Peoples Programme consultation events had been poorly attended across Hunts although widely advertised. The length and complexity of the OPP questionnaire was criticised.
Concern was expressed that changes in GP contracts may reduce practice income. Representatives from the Local Commissioning Groups Area Team will be invited to the next meeting to explain how practices will be supported to provide local services.
