STATEMENT OF PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE

This is a regular meeting of the Glen Ridge Board of Education. Adequate notice of thismeetinghas been provided in that this Board notified the Glen Ridge Paper and the Star Ledger on June 11, 2012. Said notice was published in the Star Ledger onJune 14, 2012 and the Glen Ridge Paper on June 21, 2012. The date, time, and location of this meeting were also emailed to all recipients of the annual schedule of the Board's meetings.

P-1 Resignation

Accept the resignation of Michael Velez as assistant boy’s lacrosse coach for the spring 2013 season.

P-2 Substitutes

Approve the addition of Alice Allen, James McCann, and Crystal Cruz to the substitute list for the 2012-2013 school year.

P-3 Volunteer

Approve Domenic Curfman as a volunteer for the golf team for the 2013 spring season.

CURRICULUM

C-1 Field Trips

Approve the following field trips for students for the 2012-2013 school year:

a. High School Community Service Club (grades 9-12) to visit St. Ann’s Soup Kitchen in Newark, NJ on January 31, 2013 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.a)

b. High School 10th grade students to participate in a historic tour scavenger hunt and battlefield tour at Gettysburg Battlefield in Gettysburg, PA on May 20, 2013 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.b)

c. High School Peer Leadership 12th grade students to visit the Community Food Bank of NJ in Hillside, NJ on January 29, 2013 as per the attached. (Exhibit C-1.c)

C-2 Revise Field Trip

Revise the field trip for the Forest Avenue kindergarten students to visit the Museum of Early Trades and Crafts in Madison, NJ on November 6, 2012 (previously approved on October 15, 2012) now rescheduled to January 25, 2013 due to storm.

Approve the following financial reports as recommended by the Finance Committee:

a. Certification of Fund Balance

Pursuant to N.J.A.C. 6:20-2.13(e), we certify that as ofSeptember 30, 2012 and October 31, 2012after review of the Secretary's monthly financial reports and upon consultation with the appropriate district officials, to the best of our knowledge no major account or fund has been over expended in violation of N.J.A.C. 6:20-2.13(b) and that sufficient funds were available to meet the district's financialobligations for the fiscal year.

B-2 Workshops/Conferences

Approve attendance at workshops/conferences for the following:

a. Juliann Beckmann and Katie DiTrani to attend the 2013 NJAHPERD Annual Convention being held at the Ocean Place Resort & Spa in Long Branch, NJ on February 25 & 26, 2013 for a total cost of $121.65 ($90 registration plus $31.65) for Ms. Beckmann, and a total cost of $223.48 ($160 registration plus $63.48 travel) for Ms. DiTrani.

b. Maria Cirello and Jillian Blender to attend the workshop Motivating the Unmotivated: Practical Strategies for Teaching the Hard-to-Reach Student being held at the Ramada Plaza-Airport in Newark, NJ on February 6, 2013 for a total registration cost of $215 per person.

c. Jillian Blender to attend the workshop Powerful, Practical Strategies for Reaching “I DON’T CARE!” AND UNDERPERFORMING STUDENTS to Increase Their School Success being held at the Best Western Plus in Fairfield, NJ on January 10, 2013 for a total registration cost of $219.

d. Jon Heitmann, Lauren Bas, and Heather Kobylinski to attend the Harassment, Intimidation and Bullying Workshop being held at Congregation Agudath Israel in Caldwell, NJ on January 23, 2013 for a total registration cost of $139 per person.

e. Rachael Hogan to attend the SMART Board workshop being held at Montclair State University on January 16, 2013 for a total registration cost of $30.

f. Duke Mendez, Christopher St. Genis, and Tom Novak to attend the Northeast Football Coaches Clinic being held at the Park Ridge Marriott in Park Ridge, NJ on January 31 & February 1, 2013 for a total cost of $92.40 ($65 registration plus $27.40 travel) for Mr. Mendez, a total registration cost of $65 for Mr. St. Genis and a total cost of $76.04 ($65 registration plus $11.04 travel) for Mr. Novak.

g. Maria DiCondina to attend the NJ Association for Middle Level Education being held at William Paterson University on March 22, 2013 for a total cost of $62.70 ($60 registration plus $2.70 travel).

h. Oscar Viteri, Steve Reitberger, and Will Montes de Oca to attend the Soccer Champions Coaches Clinic being held at the Mohegan Sun Convention Center in Connecticut on March 1 & 2, 2013 for a total cost of $256.90 ($169 registration plus $87.90 travel) for Mr. Viteri, a total cost of $261.22 ($169 registration plus $92.22 travel) for Mr. Reitberger, and a total cost of $277.12 ($169 registration plus $108.12 travel) for Mr. Montes de Oca.

B-3 No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act Consolidated Formula Subgrant Application FY 2013

BE IT RESOLVED, that the Glen Ridge Board of Education approve the submission to the New Jersey State Department of Education of the No Child Left Behind Act Consolidation Formula Subgrant Application Fiscal Year 2013 in the amount of $21,605 (Title II Part A).

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, as recommended by the Superintendent of Schools, that the Board of Education formally refuse the Title III: Grants and Subgrants for English Language Acquisition and Language Enhancement in the amount of $1,307.

B-4 Donations

Accept, with thanks, the following generous donations:

a. Cash donation of $2,000 from the Gas Lamp Players to be used on window air conditioner units in the cafeteria at Ridgewood Avenue School. (Exhibit B-4.a)

b. Cash donation of $2,600 from the Wolfe Family for the Linden Avenue School and staff in honor of the bravery and love shown by the faculty of Sandy Hook Elementary School. This money represents $100 in memory of each of the Newtown, CT angels who lost their lives in the tragedy on December 14, 2012. (Exhibit B-4.b)

B-5 Out-of-District Placement

Approve the out-of-district placement for student #14123 to attend Cornerstone Day School for a total amount of $39,325 effective December 21, 2012 for the 2012-2013 school year.
