Post Defense steps for MS Thesis Certification:

For final certification, all the following must be completed and submitted by the last day of classes.

·  Pay Student Financial Services for each thesis book to be bound: We require two bound copies- one for your advisor and one for the library. You need to pay the $14 binding fee for your advisor’s copy as well as for any additional copies for your personal use. The library pays for the binding for their copy. Bring the receipt to the CE office so that a copy of it can be made as this is part of the required documentation for your certification. You can go directly to Student Financial Services in the Innovation Center building, or pay online at https://library.rit.edu/thesis-binding/, then click the second tab for ‘Process’.

·  Have your copies made: Thesis copies can be printed at any copy center. The copies should be one-sided and you may use common bond paper. Color should be used if it is necessary to interpret data. The HUB Express on the first floor of the SAU has this service available if you are not local and wish to have the copies made and delivered to the CE Department, GLE-3480. Contact them at (585) 475-3471. A pdf of your thesis can be sent to them at along with instructions for printing.

·  Collect and add Signature Pages to your final copies: You need to insert an original Signature Page at the front of each thesis book. Once your corrections are made and your final thesis is approved, your committee members will sign your Signature Pages. (It is always a good idea to have them sign a couple of extra ones in case there is a problem with the binding.)

After your thesis copies are printed, these pages can be added and you can submit your final copies to the Publishing and Scholarship Support Services center in the Wallace Library, room A-500, along with the receipt for binding. You will need to make an appointment to drop off your thesis copies. Go to the following website to make your appointment: http://infoguides.rit.edu/thesis-services

·  Submit your thesis on ProQuest/UMI: Once your thesis is completed, you are required to submit it in pdf format through our library’s publishing agreement with ProQuest. The web site is located at http://dissertations.umi.com.

·  Submit your conference Paper: The last item required for certification is confirmation that your advisor has received a satisfactory conference paper that is ready to submit for publishing.

·  On a case by case basis, you may be asked to provide extra deliverables by your advisor.

Once these steps are complete you will be a candidate for certification with your MS degree pending confirmation that all other requirements have been met.
